My daughter and I called in at lunchtime today for my daughters birthday. We waited for over 5 minutes and was totally ignored! The lady behind the bar obviously thought her conversation was far more important than customers. Needless to say we left and had a fantastic meal at The Old White Bear, staff polite and helpful and the food perfect,

Walked in and was greeted by a friendly young lady, she showed us to a table for 2 and came and took our drinks order. I ordered half a lemonade and it came in the smallest glass and only half filled, so I definitely didnt get a half of lemonade that I paid for and especially when it cost £3.10 ! The young lady returned for our meal order. I ordered the steak, mushroom, onion rings and peas and my friend ordered the mixed grill. It arrived around 15mins later and I have to say it wasn't overly hot, just warm, the steak was tough and it looked like it had been thrown on the plate, no presentation. The peppercorn sauce was also just warm. Although it was ok it was expensive and I can say we wont be returning or recommending to our friends.

Wednesday night. Around 7pm. Food was disappointing, I ordered the "NEW" Southern Fried chicken burger meal. The burger was battered, and it dripped a little, cheese seemed non-existent, it was there but cooked too long. Chips were very greasy, not to my liking. Salad was basic. Service was fine apart from a slight 10min wait to be seated. Not busy on a Wednesday Evening. Atmosphere was pleasantly quiet. Dog freindly, so expect a slight smell in the air. Ive been to worse, manageable I'd say but thats personal preference.

Great food. Had the jalapeño burger. Bit quiet for a Sunday. Staff could do with training on how to pull a proper pint. Probably the worst measure I've ever received. Not good at £5.65 a pint

Excellent taste although prices have increased and portions shrink slightly since last visit. D&G burger is always excellent (£15) and Meat and Potato pie also pictured. Both excellent. Service excellent (polite and professional) although we were left with a brief wait before ordering. Table we were offered was v close to neighbouring table when there was space to spread us out, this slightly impinged on our experience.

5 of us just had lunch and it was so good . The service was superb such lovely staff , each one of us had a different meal and each said it was delicious large portions and beautifully cooked , the only thing left on the plate was the piece of lemon we each had a different sweet and again just delicious , large portions again . This was a last minute booking and so pleased with the choice . Alfie was made so welcome even having his own sausage and gravy . Thank you for a lovely experience we certainly will be back .

Very impressed with our lunch yesterday. 2 of our group had Roast of the day, what platefuls! Another had Meat and Potato Pie with very chunky homemade chips. I had Haddock and Prawn Mornay. All meals delicious and great value for money. Friendly staff. We will return!.

Stopped off for a quick chat with a friend. So we just had soup and coffees. I was very impressed, it was lunchtime and busy. There was a good atmosphere and the staff were attentive and welcoming. I'll most definitely return for a meal.

A warm and friendly welcome and the American lady who served our food was delightful, friendly and informative The food was delicious, I had to opt for the turkey roast dinner as there was no beef but it was cooked so well and had a delicious buttery taste that I’m now a fan, we had 5 empty plates at a competitive price in comfortable surroundings The best feature for me was how good the disabled facilities were, level entry, level designated parking and a separate disabled toilet, very hard to find in an old building and very few and far between so bravo for the inclusiveness!! I would definitely recommend, well worth the visit

So I've been here 3 times now, the first just for a drink and some chips. And I was amazed by the chips, seasoned to perfection, they were great. I then came back with my partner for a proper meal and got the D & G burger and oh my the burger was also cooked amazingly! The whole meal was fantastic. We came again a few weeks later and again I really enjoyed the food. The service was great from the older staff, the gentleman whom assisted us was really lovely and polite. The younger kids who served us were awkward as hell bless them but they're young so you can let that slide. Overall I really like the establishment, it's really lovely inside, the prices aren't too bad and the food is really good!
