Stilll currently sat here with no help while she sits outside my room

I brought my girlfriend here while she was in serious pain, and what we experienced was genuinely unsafe. This “hospital” operated with a level of filth and incompetence that should never exist in the UK. We waited over six hours for a basic blood test and never received the results. Meanwhile, the waiting area was disgusting: fresh and dried blood smeared on the walls and floor, plus wet vomit that sat there untouched. For context: under UKHSA guidance, NHS infection-control standards, and HSE regulations, bodily fluids like blood and vomit must be treated as potentially infectious materials, cleaned immediately with proper PPE, clinical disinfectants, and isolation of contaminated areas. None of that happened. Not even minimally. And the staff? At every level, they were rude, lazy, and completely indifferent. No triage. No urgency. No structure. Patients in visible distress—including my girlfriend—were ignored while staff chatted, scrolled on phones, or acted inconvenienced when asked simple questions. A hospital is supposed to be clean, safe, and staffed by professionals. Instead, this place felt like a DVLA office on its worst day—except staffed entirely by people who weren’t competent enough to work at the actual DVLA. And here, the stakes weren’t paperwork delays—they were people needing immediate medical care. If you value basic safety, avoid this place. It was filthy, disorganized, and nowhere near the standards of a properly run medical facility.

While Manchester Royal might not have the best reputation online, I have to give credit where it’s truly due — the staff on Cardiology Ward 3 are exceptional. A huge shoutout to Nurse Grace and her incredible team. Her presence alone keeps the ward calm, steady, and under control. She brings brightness, warmth, and a quiet confidence that makes every patient feel genuinely cared for. When she’s on shift, you can tell — the whole team moves like a well-oiled machine, and you instantly feel like you’re in safe hands. I’m currently waiting to be transferred to Wythenshawe Hospital for open-heart surgery, and until a bed becomes available, Ward 3 has become my temporary home. And honestly? The care here is so attentive that it almost feels like an all-inclusive resort — just with more wires and monitors. The staff who come around with tea, coffee, and meals throughout the day are always cheerful, and when you’re waiting for major surgery, those small moments of kindness lift the weight off your shoulders, even if just for a little while. When there’s not much you can do but wait, the team on this ward make you feel calm, supported, and truly looked after. I’ve been here for 10 days now, and I’ve seen firsthand how incredibly hard the staff work and how demanding their jobs can be. Some patients present real challenges, but every single person here is treated with patience, dignity, and genuine care. Ward 3 deserves far more recognition than it gets.

The care my daughter received on ward 45 ICU, HDU has been exceptional. The care staff and nurses were fantastic, respectful, friendly, worked to the highest standards. They treated my daughter and myself, with dignity, respect. The cleanliness and team work was clear to see.

Attended last night due to falling down around 15 stairs and landed on my back unable to move. Reception staff at triage were lovely and friendly. Once you pass this point and go into the ED, it completely goes down hill. I was told I « hadn’t been triaged properly » by the doctor (after 4 hours of waiting at this point) I requested some painkillers and told them I had started to get shooting pain in my neck - I never got these painkillers. Told the doctor I didn’t get them, still received nothing from them. The doctors and nurses are rude and wouldn’t tell you even if your hair was on fire. I get it’s a stressful job but it’s a job that YOU chose and you have a duty of care for these patients. There is a clear failure for patients in this hospital, no urgency, security are rude, every single staff member other than receptionists and porters are rude. You are made to feel like an inconvenience by them. I was prescribed nothing by them for the pain, not gave any advice or anything on how to make it better just told to « come back if it gets worst » and sit through 8 hours of A&E again? No thanks. Something needs to change in this hospital as this A&E is by far the worst I have ever been to in my life.

Unfortunately the A&E is very understaffed which meant I waited 7hrs to see a doctor whilst I was constantly vomiting & had such low blood pressure I was unable to walk. However, I give the MRI a 4 star review because of doctor Alex in emergency who is the reason an underlying but unrelated problem was detected which may have become more serious if not discovered now. Thankyou so much

Absolutely amazing the staff of the Emergency department. I went there yesterday for a problem with my heart and they all were caring. The doctor that visited me at the end was caring and reassuring. Thanks for existing!

Overall the nurses and doctors are kind. But there's this nurse who absolutely doesn't have any compassion at all. Infact I'm officially lodging a complaint. That they should consider first the safety of kids visitors in the ward. Rules are meant to be kept. But there should be room for exception. Especially where a child is involved.

Horrible place. Waited for hours and hours, no one even called me in for the first assessment. People sleeping on the floor, nurses and doctors just jumping over them. I literally started crying on my way out just because of the horrible scene there, it looks devastating. Poor people. The woman on the reception on the urgent care is extremely rude and unapproachable. Feels like she has no empathy for anyone. I don't think I've ever seen an a&e like this.

My 12 day stay was shocking. I was in a bay of 4 and witnessed a patient left in wet sheets for 2 hours. Patients waiting 11 and 5 hours for much needed pain relief. The list of neglect and lack of communication was awful. You have no rights over your own body in there. Worst experience I've ever had in a hospital.
