   Merry Christmas, my dear doctors, nurses, and all the staff! Thank you all for my health; your treatment has been so successful. A year ago, at the end of October, I had to be treated by your ambulance. You do the impossible: in three days, you conducted numerous examinations, tests, and meetings with doctors. Unfortunately, I don't remember their names (I had a stroke), but I am very grateful for the treatment, support, attention, and kind smiles! You have a wonderful team! I love you!    I have just had hip replacement at Stepping Hill.From initial assessment right through until discharge my treatment was faultless and actually a wonderful experience. I had my own room in b3 which was just so nice. The staff are wonderful and just so attentive.. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was good and nice to know that it’s all freshly prepared on site. Maybe I have been lucky but I have always received wonderful treatment at Stepping Hill.. Just a tip..the more pleasant and patient you are with the overworked staff the more pleasant they will be back..just a thought

   I was admitted to SDEC, assessed quickly and transferred to AMU for overnight assessment. The day after I was fitted with a pacemaker in the morning and came home in the afternoon. I was given excellent care and attention in all departments. I had no delays. I was also expecting the food not to be good but it was fine with choices for every meal. Thank you to all at Stepping hill, especially ward A in the AMU and the surgical team

   This information is for the receptionist in the spine department who just refused to give an appointment as she said that herniated discs at the top of the spine are not connected to the shoulder. I was offered an open patient initiated follow up which would last 2 years from December 2024. It is now November 2025 and the spinal receptionist refused to give an appointment, saying that I have to start the process all over again by going back to the GP. This information is to educate her. 'A herniated disc between the shoulder blades typically results from a cervical spine (neck) disc herniation, where the inner gel-like material of a spinal disc protrudes through a tear in the outer layer, potentially pressing on nearby nerves. This can cause pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness that radiates from the neck to the shoulder blade area, arm, or hand. The pain is often described as sharp, dull, or burning and may worsen with movement, coughing, sneezing, or specific neck positions like bending backward. While herniated discs are most common in the lower back (lumbar spine) and neck (cervical spine), they can also occur in the upper back (thoracic spine), though this is less frequent. A herniation in the lower part of the thoracic spine may cause discomfort between the shoulder blades, but it is more common for pain in this region to originate from a cervical disc herniation due to nerve referral. In fact, many patients with pain localized between the shoulder blades may actually have cervical radiculopathy, where the pain is referred from a compressed nerve in the neck.'

   I’ve had good and bad experiences here. The porters are super lovely. The two I met had been working there pretty much since the hospital was built and were really friendly. The maternity unit in SH is outstanding. Yes, processes can be slow, but there’s only so much they can all do under a broken NHS. The staff are generally really friendly, especially nurses and midwives. I can’t say the same about A&E. I regret every time I have been there. Even though I was always assessed over the phone and told to go there, the doctors would then send me home after several hours waiting because I wasn’t in enough pain. I think the hospital has great potential and I look forward to when there’s an actual improvement to the NHS that will help places like SH flourish.

   Just had elective hip replacement started off on D5 then after op straight to B3, I can only say that all the staff were fantastic, all very caring and helpful. I was kept fully informed on what was happening with regards to physio, equipment needed by the o.t. and what would happen after discharge. Thank you could not fault my stay there at all.

   Recently spent 2 weeks in this hospital and can say the care was fair. The meals usually weren’t what I asked for and the ward visiting times were unhelpful as it was only an hour at a time. Consultants were lovely, even if I didn’t always understand what was going on when they explained the treatment I needed. The staff also tried hard leading up to Christmas.

   Amazing care and dignity given to my mum when she was really ill. And when she passed on the ward, the staff were so kind, and loving to all of us and gave us plenty of time to spend with mum. They didn’t rush us, they had so much patience and we would not have got through this heartbreaking time without their support. Each and everyone of the staff from high levels down to the orderly staff played their part and were wonderful. Sadly mum passed away, but I can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve done.

   I went in with gastroenteritis, feeling awful and in a lot of pain- everyone who dealt with me from start to end was kind, patient and reassuring, and kept me in the loop about next steps. Yes I had to wait longer than I'd like at the start, but it was really busy and it was clear that hospital staff were doing the best they could to get people seen. A huge thanks to the doctor's and nurses on the day - you do an amazing job in challenging circumstances!

   Having had an equine fall. I can honestly say the treatment and care from all A&E personal was amazing. However they are in need of more staff. They definitely earn every penny of their wages. You all do an amazing job and I thank you for the care you all gave me.
