If I could give 0 I would. This is the closest hospital to where I leave and I had the worst experience of my live. We rushed to the emergency department after my boyfriend had an allergic reaction. A nurse checked him and asked him if he wanted a medication for the hitching. Excuse me???!!! Would like us to google the symptoms for you and tell you also what to do? If we are here is because we need someone to tell us what to do! In the end all she did was checking his blood pressure and told him to wait in the seating area to be seen by a doctor, but he needed to wait because they were most probably all on break! We felt extremely unsafe, it looked like we took a trip into the Bronx. Full of drug addicts and homeless people sleeping on the chairs. The security was constantly kicking out people. People vaping inside, half naked people walking around. Leave alone how dirty everything was and it was and smelling of urine! Absolutely disgusting. There was splashing of vomit just on the back of the chair in front of me. I have seen nobody cleaning around. when you enter an emergency department you would expect to find the minimum cleaning standards. The receptionists were rude loud and constantly laughing. Every nurse or doctors were walking around like they didn’t want to be there. We did wait for about 3 hours and we decided to leave even though my boyfriend reaction didn’t go away because honestly at that point, we were more afraid of getting stabbed or catching something than the reaction itself. Back home all I wanted to do was to cover myself in bleach! Problem is we are all paying a lot of taxes for this service! Absolute shame. If you feel unwell, avoid this hospital at all costs!

The list of what's wrong at this hospital is too long for one review. All the issues the last CQC report raised with A&E and Care of Elderly remain. * Elderly, confused patients aren't given same sex personal care. People who can't openly consent to opposite sex same care have no say. * Patients are routinely transferred wards overnight. This can be distressing for confused elderly patients, as this is done without their family or carer accompanying them and among a sea of unfamiliar faces, in a strange place. * The quality of the nursing staff and healthcare workers really is Russian Roulette. Some were outstanding, some were shockingly inept. This will be part of a PALS complaint that I will submit. Patients are discharged before it's safe for them to return home. This happened twice to my mother The Home from Hospital MDT team should be selling tickets for a panto. These are issues that have plagued the hospital for a long time - from the time my father was still alive and under its care. It's staggering that, after so many years, nothing has changed.

We had a very disappointing experience at A&E North Middlesex Hospital. After waiting 5 hours, the doctor examined our baby’s eye and told us there was no problem, advising us only to clean it. He mentioned eye drops but said it was nothing to worry about. Because our baby had already been given a lot of medication due to a high temperature, we trusted the doctor’s opinion and did not give additional medicine. Two days later, our baby’s eye developed a clear infection, and we had to return to the hospital again. This situation could have been avoided with a more careful examination or clearer advice. As parents, we trusted the doctor’s judgment, and that trust was misplaced. Very disappointing experience, especially when it concerns a baby’s health.

This is my closest hospital but my usual treatments are at Barnet Hospital and Royal Free so I had never been here. It doesn't have a great reputation locally but i needed to go to a&e as my only option. Luckily I had some flexibility- it was Halloween and I had no interest in waiting in a room with a bunch of drunk party goers. I arrived at 7.30 am checked in straight away, then waited maybe an hour in the waiting area which had maybe 5 others. I think you have to have a realistic expectation when going at the weekend in winter, it will be at least 4 hours and they will see people in urgency order. (Bring a mask!) I then had a mini assessment and the nurse referred me to a specific ward which accepted the assignment and half an hour later I was taken to that outpatient ward. When the porter pushed me there, we saw "behind the curtain" - the actual emergencies, getting treatment and I wish people could get a glimpse of that to put their impatience into place. The nurses on the ward were ever so apologetic as the Dr was held up in an emergency and in the operating theatre, meanwhile I was on a comfortable chair alone in a room, I told them to absolutely not worry about me. They kept checking in with me and about 2.5 hours later I was treated by a lovely doctor and finally pushed out by the nurses themselves as the porter took too long in their opinion. From the security guard, the check in person, the nurses, porter and doctor everyone was respectful and professional. The place was very clean but you can tell that they have an enormous footfall. From 8.30 am the waiting room started to get more people. NorthMid has statistically very high traffic, younger people and more mental health cases than the other hospitals in the trust. If you want to make a difference join the Royal Free membership- everyone can and engage with the patient governors or join the patient panel.

Arrived at a&e at 8pm, seen reasonable quickly as I am on chemo and not mobile and female. However, no empathy by any of the staff initially and the place was filthy. Bins overflowing in clinic rooms. Once taken through and told I would be given a side room due to my condition and high risk of infection, I was placed on an armchair in a cubicle with 2 young men. Should a female patient be with two male patients, no !!! But thankfully they were nice. I remained sitting in this armchair for the next 20 hrs. Unable to elevate legs which resulted in severe swelling. As I was not mobile I was not offered a sip of water all night long. It appears that a large number of armchairs are been used instead of beds as armchairs are all numbered. So we have moved from patients on trolleys for hours to patients in armchairs. This is just not acceptable treatment for anyone who is unwell. As I had to share a room with others, there was no privacy to discuss your condition with doctors, so much for dignity & privacy. The whole department was filthy and yes the staff tried their best but when the basic human needs are not been met there is a failure in system. I would have scored 0 if I had the option.

Brought my 87 year old dad and waited around 2 hours at A&E after the initial registration Dr.Rosalyn Buckland saw us and she was the most caring, gentle, through and patient Dr I’ve ever seen. She sent us to all relevant test and kept checking in on us to make sure that we was okay! What an Amazing person. The reason for 3stars is we spent the night on chairs as No beds and the nurses weren’t very helpful at all. It feels like nobody really cares, one has to ask for something numerous times before being done.

I have arrived to this hospital at 13:20 with high blood pressure 182/118, and been seen my nurse only at 14:50 just to check my BP, which was still high. The nurse said that it is not very high, whereas in other hospitals patients like me seen as soon as possible! Still waiting if doctor will want to see me. I might leave this place as nothing is taken in consideration. People pay for NI, but do they deserve such as poor service? No mutter how busy are they, it has to be better please.

This hospital is a shambles. I took my daughter to A&E and she was sent away after tests saying everything is fine even though she needed painkillers for the pain she was in. Also, the blood tests for children used to be a walk in service, no appointment necessary. Now, you have to call up to book and there's nothing available for a month. I went there not knowing it's changed to appointment only and even though the place was dead they still were adamant I have to call up. Something that was simple and easy has now been made unnecessarily difficult. What nonsense.
