Great care but absurd amount of rough sleepers in the A&E waiting room, more than actual patients. These people also start arguing, one of them shouted at each other "I'll tear your lips off, you dont know about violence". Its a hospital and it shouldn't be used as a homeless shelter, particularly when those people are also antisocial. Many of them check into A&E to have an excuse to stay in the room and delay the waiting time for actual patients. Other than that the care is generally good.

Having been to few A&Es in London over the last 10 years (been lucky not to need A&E before that), im impressed with how they run their service. After checking in, triage nurse sees you within 15 minutes and if you need to be seen by a doctor, they advise you on approximate waiting time. Despite the reception being packed, I was seen within 2 hours by A&E doctor who was so empathetic and understanding. I left assured that I got the best health advice and A&E doctor also referred me for non urgent MRI - for assurance that my injury is not serious. One note - the waiting area is quite small when compared to other large hospitals, so you may struggle to find a seat (of course if you can't physically stand for any reason or you ask, people will give up their seats). I was there midday on a working day, so it may be less busy in other times

I must caveat this regretful review with the fact this is not about the UCH Cancer Hospital, nor those who were tasked with my sadly now-deceased Mother's care prior to Monday 6 October, 2025. This review is specifically about the horrendous neglect, negligence, dereliction of duty, and cruel treatment at the hands of the Head Nurse and another nurse (B.) during the day shift on Monday 6 October, on the 8th floor of the main hospital (T-8). We had taken my Mum to UCLH's emergency care department on Thursday 2 October, 2025. She was seen as a matter of urgency and it was discovered that she had dangerously low sodium levels. She was treated with the utmost care, and her sodium levels recovered and the specialists were optimistic that she would be able to come home after around three to four days. My Mum was then moved to the 8th floor, T-8, the respiratory ward, where she was cared for attentively and compassionately by dedicated nurses. This very unfortunately changed for the very worst on Monday 6 October. The Head Nurse and the nurse B. ignored my Mother when she was in pain, skipped her medicines or had administered them at the wrong time. They "forgot" to administer vital anti-fungal treatment, which played a role in the development of the eventually-fatal infection which took my Mother's life. At dinner time, both the Head Nurse and B. were engaging in laughter and small talk with other patients whilst my Mum coughed blood and was crying in agony. When I approached B. for assistance, she crudely remarked that my Mum is being cared for by a nurse on another ward and told me to wait. That nurse, R., when he eventually turned up much later, was also dismissive, rude and arrogant. That evening, I was told to go home, but I was very concerned for my Mum. The nurse, R., dismissed me and said, roughly paraphrased: "Your Mum is fine and you are welcome to sleep on the pavement outside the hospital if you are that concerned". One hour later, I'm informed that my Mum is being taken to Intensive Care/Critical Care and I rushed back to the hospital after taking the train home to Broxbourne. Despicable treatment. I'm so sorry that my Mum had to suffer at their hands during the last few days of her life. On a more positive note, I wanted to thank Dr Papadatos-Pastos for the affection, conscientious care and optimism he injected into my dear Mother's life. A wonderful, dedicated person who is an immense credit to his profession. My Mother was so grateful to him. Also, thank you to the UCLH staff who cared for my Mum prior to Monday 6 October, and to the Critical Care staff. It's a damned and unforgivable shame that the Head Nurse, B. and R. on the day shift of Monday 6 October, 2025, were so utterly awful, neglectful, mean-spirited and cold towards my Mother, and had ignored their duties to my Mum whilst they were laughing with the other patients. I will never forgive or forget. I'm grateful to those at UCLH who cared for my Mother with dedication, kindness and love. My review is not aimed at you. Love you always and forever, my precious Mother. I'm so sorry it ended this way. You deserved so much better.

I had a full laparoscopic hysterectomy after cancer diagnosis. I can only say I found the facilities at this hospital to be excellent as were all the staff. Special thanks to my surgeon Faiza GABA and her team who were truly amazing. I was in hospital overnight not in any pain and 4 days later I am fully mobile and not in pain killers. I’m hoping my cancer treatment ends here but if not, I am confident I am in the best place with the best treatment. Truly thankful to you all

Was dropped in front of the main entrance by a taxi, queued in front of the info desk/reception to ask where to go and was approached by someone with a yellow badge (working or volunteer from the hospital) to ask if he can help and promptly answered us to go directly to the A&E unit with clear direction. The staff, nurses & specially the doctor was very calming and thorough in their job. The facility is very clean. It took us less than a couple of hours with the medication from the pharmacy and went back home… The only minor comments is that there was no discharge summary report, either they missed to give us or it does not exist. Also the A&E waiting area seems to be small, perhaps it is under renovation not sure…

The prime example of the utopia we would be living in the UK, would all the NHS have proper funding. It is the best hospital you can wish for, from the exceptional staff, to the processes, the attentive care you receive and the stellar facilities. It is properly financed and it shows, and from a personal perspective, I was lucky to be treated here.

Nurses and Doctors did my fathers operation were fantastic. However, after that point it went down hill. My mother was told she would be called after my father finished having his operation which was due to finish around 2/3 pm. Nobody called by 7pm and we had to spend over an hour trying to get through to the correct department. Eventually we got through and someone said they would call back. We went to visit my father the following day (late afternoon). He was told they needed to change his bandages in the morning. He kept asking when it will be changed and kept being told they’ll come back! He was covered in lots of dried blood. After him chasing about 11 times, they finally changed the dressing around 10pm! It was supposed to be changed in the morning to stop infections occurring. Whilst I get staff are currently underpaid, busy and most likely demotivated. There were some staff hanging around the nurses station not doing very much. When I did finally track down the nurse, they didn’t really know much about my father. There are also no TV’s for patients to pay to watch TV/listen to the radio in the post operative recovery ward. It’s rather depressing to be honest. I would not recommend this hospital and got my father out ASAP!

I gave birth and had all the pregnancy appointments here. Honestly, I really had a bad time. Most of the staff ignored me a lot and they were quite rude. Had a severe bruise on my arm after a nurse took my blood one time. When I was forced to stay in the hospital to “monitor” my baby. No one wanted to keep an eye on my baby when I wanted to shower. I was sent to a different floor to get some hot water to drink , a nurse treated me like a thief and gave me boiling hot water and it burn my mouth. The fourth day of staying in the hospital also the last day , I insisted to leave as I didn’t see any reason to stay and I was exhausted from giving birth and looking after the baby all by myself, hardly got any sleep, a midwife who looked like in charge there immediately changed her attitude and ignored me since then just because she couldn’t convince me to stay. Only thank two midwives who helped me give birth at the birth center. So I gave one more star for them two. The rest was a truly nightmare. And yes I’m aware that the nurses do a difficult job but that time the ward wasn’t even busy. If they act like this because they overwork and underpay , they shouldn’t take it out on me or any other patients.

Thanks so much for the booster jab volunteers to make the process so much easier. The waiting was well planned and the queue wasn’t that long either. Very organised and sanitary measures in place. The staff who vaccinated me was wearing gloves and masks etc. and also ensured that I felt calm before the jab. I was offered to wait for few minutes post jab which was again very kind. Even though I hot my appointment booked on Sunday, the jab was offered real quick as there wasn’t much waiting. Thanks to the ones in ward K to the pleasant experience
