I have no issue with the food - absolutely gorgeous cheese and amazing food - good value for money. However, following on from a couple of good meals, we returned to purchase some cheese to take away. We were told Β£6 for three portions of cheese, so ordered six - total Β£12. When the portions arrived we were very disappointed. The sizes were not what we expected and when we queried it we were told each cheese is a different weight. That is not advertised and would have made a difference to our order. On returning home my sister-in-law (who works in food retail) pointed out the fact that there were no made by dates on the packaging, nor allergy warnings as per Natasha’s Law. I am sure the cheese is fresh and no-one in our household has allergies, but it has worried me somewhat. This doesn’t take away from the fact that the dining experience in the pub is second to none. I will come back to eat, but will think twice about the takeaway.

Excellent. Visited 12:00 Tuesday in November. Warm welcome, decent choice of real ale. The ale I had was well kept. The homity pie is a favourite. Surprisingly busy on a Tuesday lunchtime. Locals and those choosing to drive by, like us. Highly recommended. Cheese to go.

Regularly travel from Doncaster for the amazing cheese selection. Never had bad food here, everything that we have tried is delicious. The specials are incredible too! Fantastic portion sizes and you can take a doggy bag home if needed. Sometimes can be rather busy (especially when the sun is out) but that is a testament to how good this pub is, it's a lovely and friendly atmosphere and the staff are very polite and helpful. Very good selection of drinks as well.

I've been dying to go to "cheese pub" for ages and finally got to go last weekend. Amazing concept. Beer and cheeseboards, what more could you want? My favourite was the smoked red Leicester. Perfect!

I've been meaning to go here to try their cheese board for some time as friends have said it's worth the trip... I wasn't let down. I had the three cheese option for about Β£9, there are about 50 different cheeses to choose from and each one is a significant chunk. In addition we also had a sourdough loaf smothered in garlic, which was on the specials board (photo below), however this NEEDS to be a permanent offering as, although it is a fancy name for a garlic bread, it was quite possibly the best garlic bread I've ever tasted. We had toppings separately which is how we could tell the garlic bread was so good. As far as other aspects of the pub, it's your pretty standard country pub with plenty of outdoor tables and dogs welcome.

Wonderful service and fantastic food. Such a huge range of choice in cheese, beers, and ciders, there's something for everyone. Value for money is fantastic too, and there's a smoking area something which is greatly appreciated on cold wet days.

Lovely proper pub inside & out with fantastic views over Chesterfield. Plenty of benches outside to sit & drink talk & chill in the sun. The pork pies, cheese platters & continental cured meat selection are amazing. You don't need to book but if you are big group I would.
