Thankyou for another fabulous xmas meal. Every course was superb and as usual the service and welcome 2nd to none. Fourth year we have been and we will certainly be back for our xmas meal next year, thankyou.
Fantastic range of cask beer. Its nice to have choices. Well looked after. I would have scored the maximum if they accepted the CAMRA discount card.

Really nice traditional pub serving great food! Chip butty night is highly recommended!! (Still waiting for chardanara special to appear -carbonara topped butty) They also have the biggest collection of spirits too amazing place!
One of our local pubs known for it’s fantastic array of gins, whiskies and ales also serve fabulous homemade food – and of course their infamous Chip Butties that are BIGGER THAN YOUR HEAD!! The weekly Chip Butty Night is every Wednesday and it’s amazing; order from their usual menu including lots of indulgent toppings, or check out their weekly special. The chip butty toppings menu including anything and everything from cheese, beans, bacon, chilli con carne, fried egg, the list goes on. There is also a changing weekly special that has so far including things like Cauli-Cheese, Prawn Thai Curry, Paneer Balti (my recommendation -pictured above!), Guinness Cheese Dip etc. I know what you’re thinking, some of these sounds crazy, but they totally work. Make your own creation and just enjoy it. One of my latest creations – Chinese Salt & Pepper Onions and Peppers and a fried egg. This was salty, spicy and the egg really complimented the whole thing. I ate the lot. Ben’s Butty – Good old chips, fried onions, cheese & gravy. The gravy was so good. A perfect butty for a northerner. Prices start at £3.20 and your meal really will be “cheap as chips”. Support local pubs and go give this a try – let me know what you think and what creations you come up with. The Commercial also started Sheffield Distillery which is onsite where they create their own selection of Gins and Vodkas or which you can enjoy at the pub, or buy to take home. Plus not only are their Chip Butties something to rave about, but they have a decent pub grub menu served daily (menu sample below) and do various specials as well. The Commie is a very traditional pub scene and has a local but welcoming atmosphere. Nice cosey pub, good service, polite staff, child friendly and the food was good, Would definitely go again, kids enjoyed it too.
The whisky tasting evening was well worth the visit. We tasted 3 Whiskies and 1 Bourbon all of which were very good. Paul gave information with each one. The drinks + sandwiches +chips for £18 were excellent value. I look forward to attending the next special event.

Excellent whisky selection and real ales. Same people also run the Sheffield Distillery with award winning vodka's and gins. Highly recommended place.
Well worth a visit especially on a Wednesday for Chip Butty Night. I had chips with cheese and my hubby had chips and tuna mayo. He had a pint of Guinness and I had a diet coke. Food and drink just under £13....wow. The food was lovely and a cosy open fire just topped off a great night. A traditional oldy worldy pub. Service was quick and friendly. It was busy but not packed, we didn't book and we found a table straight away. We will be back. Car park is at the back of the pub.
