Can't comment on the rooms as we only went in for a meal, the food was awful and service was not great. Ordered 3 roast dinners, one chicken and 2 beef, chicken kiev and 2 childrens meals, ten mins after ordering was told there was no chicken for the roast dinner so swapped to beef, came and the beef was inedible, also had very peppery inedible gravy and the chicken Kiev had a massive bit of bone and gristle in, they offered to swap the food, came back to say they had no more beef offered to swap to lamb, my mother doesn't eat lamb and he said he'd do her a chicken breast, replaced all roast dinners which were still not very nice. Chicken Kiev was remade but still awful, batter was falling off and some weird tomato sauce underneath was terrible, all veg covered in very strong spices which made them inedible. Best meals were the kids but Sausage and mash came with the same very peppery gravy which he didn't eat. Wouldn't return or recommend. When finished he thought we'd try a dessert but the waitress never came back or came anywhere near us to order so we gave up, had to go to the bar to pay and left very disappointed.

Disgraceful service. No heating in the middle of winter, complained twice, both times I was assured it would be fixed shortly. Ended up sleeping clothed, under the paper thin sheets. Filthy rooms, non existent service. Was closed in the morning, no breakfast (as advertised). Essentially a chancer with a pub listing his spare rooms under the guise ‘hotel’.

The pub was lovely and the meal we had in there, was fabulous. Staff were warm and friendly. The Rooms were basic, yet very comfortable and very good for the price. Location was great and the town was lovely. Has a Morrisons and little shops within walking distance and a small cocktail bar across the road called the The Old Cell, which was small and intimate and the owner even offered to take my parents back to the local camping site, when it was late. All in all we loved our stay here and would highly recommend it, despite some of the other negative reviews. The only thing we could criticise, was our room no 4, didn't have any hot water, but we informed the owner, who thanked us and said he would take a look to rectify it.

Unluckily I found the last day of the stay that the hotel is far to pricey for this low standard and the overall cleanliness. It's actually my second stay here although I wasn't that much impressed 2 years earlier especially from the cleanliness BUT this time its far better. Last time it was a really sticky remote controll and the carpet cleanliness. This time ..well the carpets are still the same but cleanliness in the main got better and the food is really good. But still only one hairdryer for all the rooms. Ah bring earplugs cz the inner walls are thin and traffic is rolling.

The room was freezing cold and no hot water in the morning on the 2nd day, but the bed was comfortable. The heating didn't come on in the morning whilst I was there. Service in the bar was good, and the food was OK, but nothing special! Very noisy from passing traffic outside, I had to use earplugs. I wouldn't stay here again.

Very good experience all round We met up withfriends for lunch here and stayed overnight. The pub is traditional and recently refurbished. Comfortable bar/lounge area, spacious outdoor beer garden with heaters, lovely restaurant and good value food. Relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. Our ensuite room was nicely decorated, spotlessly clean, tea and coffee making facilities, and the bed was very comfortable. Continental breakfast was more than adequate with plenty of choice and tea/coffee served to our table. Would recommend to anyon

Didn't stayed for the night, just had dinner. Perfect for trying Italian food, I don't remember the last time I ate a real risotto. Delicious and cheap.

I can only comment on the food in the restaurant. Service was very quick.. The menu is very varied and gives alot of options.. The plates are fairly big. Prices seem reasonable. I cannot fault the food, and would definitely return. Thoroughly enjoyed.
