Its about £20 in a taxi from Manchester city centre so if you can stick with the bus or your own transport. The hotel was brilliant, clean and most importantly welcoming. The down side was the pub next-door doesn't do breakfast, and no cafe nearby, if you can take a trip upto the Beefeater near Heaton Park for breakfast.
The staff we encountered when we first arrived were very friendly and helpful. The room was not great, the TV did not work and the bathroom door handle fell off. Also the main light right above the bed did not turn off unless the switch was held in. The room was not very clean either. The bed wasn't very comfy. Also at 8:15am the fire alarm went off and there were no staff on site to stop the alarm. There was a mobile number on a sign at the front desk but no answer. A member of staff arrived at 8:40am and left again straight after so it is hard to get hold of staff when needed. Also I left an item in my room and contacted the hotel the same day and got no response.
I went in with a lot of hope, but first things first nobody's at their desk. They aren't even at the desk for 3/4 of the day. Now I go into the room and I checked the cupboards and there is a oddly looking fruity shoot and there was a whole completely expired milk bottle. And there was literal mould and we spent 10 minutes waiting for someone to extract it because they weren't at the desk. Also on the shower rack, someone's old crusty socks were just chilling there. Did I mention the beds are super stiff? But despite that going to sleep was alright. I did wake up extremely itchy for some reason. But did I mention that I also woke up to the sound of fire alarms? Yeah someone triggered a smoke alarm and it set off the whole fire alarm and everyone had to be evacuated despite them saying it's clear. Do not recommend even for a day.
My wife booked this place and looking at the reviews, I was a bit dubious about staying there. We ended up having a great stay. Ok the hotel is a little dated but the room was clean and quiet. The receptionist was lovely and I thank her very much for her help. Easy access via the number 59 bus into and out of the city centre. Had dinner the first night in the adjacent pub and spoke to a lovely couple that said it has recently been taken over and things are a improving.. had a great stay and would recommend. Thanks.
My experience was not great. The room was not clean. First I'd like to start with the carpet, initially I thought it was just stained red but I quickly realised it was blood on the carpet. There was also dried little spot of blood on the bathroom tiles. The room was dirty and dusty, the bedside light had dust and cobwebs on it. There was tea and coffee available however no kettle to boil water. The chain lock on the door was broken. It looked like it was kicked in. And the bathroom door had damage on it as well. Walls were stained yellow. Most of the staff were very helpful. Although there seemed to be an argument with one staff member and a group of people. I personally don't feel like this was a good stay. I understand it was a budget stay however the cleanliness of the room was not ok. My big issue was mainly the blood on the carpet. Only positive was that there was free parking and I suppose the location.
Very beautiful & amazing area
We were cancelled with no explanation before our night away. Yes, we were given notice but now having to find a hotel in Manchester at double the price when we reserved this well in advance. Poor service
