Needed a class 5 test for my preserved bus, which is stored in the area. Spoke to the team, got booked in for a weeks time, though my plans changed, needing the slot to be brought forward. The team happily fitted me in 4 days earlier, with an early appointment. On arrival, I found all the staff to be friendly and welcoming, and happy to assist. I was in, vehicle sorted, and back out within expected timescales. The comfy waiting area allowed me time to work whilst the vehicle was being sorted. A seemingly well organised business, with decent staff. Well done, Team Firth, looking forward to the next one.

Just had a really poor experience at this place with our horsebox. It’s a VW and they’re VW specialists apparently, but the only thing they specialised in was messing us about. When booking in they asked for our reg, so could have easily taken a look at the vehicle, past MOTs etc and said they didn’t want to take it on (it’s quite old). They didn’t, so we waited 2 weeks for an MOT which it failed and Brian told me on the phone that they couldn’t find the parts and also that he ‘doesn’t have time for this this week!’. I found all the parts from a specialist online and with a bit of advice from Reece, purchased them and got them sent there. They arrived a few days later (Friday) and Brian told me on the phone that they could start work on it the following Tuesday. So I waited and on the following Wednesday, 3 weeks after initially booking in, got a call from Reece to say ‘Sorry but we don’t have time to work on it’. I told them I was really unhappy about it and after some further pressing they said that now the earliest they could start work on it was in a months time - obviously wanting us to give up and move on, which we have. I can only assume that they don’t want the hassle and won’t prioritise a small job over the bigger money commercial stuff, which is fine, but why string us along and waste 3 weeks of our time as well as letting us buy £200 worth of parts and promise you can start work on it in a few days, only to then change your mind and show us the door? Very disappointed and frustrated at how we were treated.

I booked in to have the cam belt changed on my motorhome. Whilst doing that, they discovered that my injector pump wasn’t set correctly, and fixed that, too. Afterwards, everything was explained. I’m very impressed, and the motorhome runs so much smoother. Firths is where I’ll be going from now on.
