This place ambiance is very good, amenities were disappointing because of the toilet drain was not working properly, had to wait for using the toilet. The biggest let down was the room heater which wasn’t working at all during peak winter time. Morning breakfast was good and it was an average experience
I cannot stay because check-in is only from 4 to 9 PM, and I can't arrive during that time. Additionally, once you book, you cannot cancel even if you realise there was a mistake. The owner has used the policy to take advantage of guests. Please be cautious!
The Worst Hotel Experience of My Life – Avoid at All Costs! This is absolutely not a real hotel — please do not book this place! We called the hotel several times while driving from London, but no one answered. When we finally arrived after a four-hour drive, the hotel was completely closed. We called again and again, and when someone finally answered, we were told that no one could open the door for us and that we had to find another place to stay. This is unbelievable and unacceptable. How can a hotel take bookings and payments when guests cannot even access the property? After such a long journey, being refused entry to a “hotel” we paid for was a horrible experience. If you value your time, money, and sanity — do not book this place! They should not be allowed to operate as a hotel. 11/11/2025 Dear Owner, Please note that my booking was made through Super.com, not Booking.com. Based on other reviews, this issue appears to have affected multiple customers. I strongly urge you to resolve this matter and refund all payments immediately.
Bad service. Google should allow 0 stars in review. I booked a room via super.com, but I did not know the hotel reception closed at 9 pm. until I had completed the payment. I rang the hotel at 7 pm and wanted to ask them what to do if I arrived after 9 pm, but no one picked up the phone and had no option to leave a voice mail. Finally I arrived after 9pm and could not find any after hours check in instructions, I called the phone number displayed outside the hotel and someone responded ridiculously, said the whole hotel closes at 9pm, not just the reception and said no one will answer the phone call. It is funny that if the hotel said they close at 9 pm, why no one answered the call at 7 pm, and what is the point of publicizing the phone number but does not wish to answer any call?
Absolutely terrible experience. I arrived at 9:15 PM with a confirmed booking, only to be refused entry by the staff who claimed check-in closed at 9:00 PM — something that was never clearly communicated when I booked. Most hotels allow check-in well into the evening, so this was completely unexpected. The staff were shockingly rude and unprofessional — they wouldn't listen, refused to help, and even shut the door in my face. After a long day of travel, this was humiliating and unacceptable. I contacted Agoda immediately but couldn’t get support because the booking was made using an Apple private relay email. I had to book another hotel last-minute myself, which cost me extra and caused a lot of stress. For a hotel that claims to be 4-star, this was a disgraceful level of service. I will never return and strongly advise others to stay away..
Great room, comfortable bed and very clean. Love having a private bathroom and the food is top notch!
The Ascott is an absolute gem of a find. As a single traveller I wanted somewhere I could park, somewhere cosy and welcoming just outside the city centre and this is perfect. David is extremely welcoming and friendly and my room was absolutely ideal for my 2 night stay. Buses to the Trafford Centre and Manchester are easy to access from here. Breakfast is table served and is absolutely excellent, one of the best I’ve had. If you are looking for a modern hotel, a generic property and soulless experience, then this is not for you. But, if you want a truly homely stay within a hotel full of history and warmth and character then I highly recommend this wonderful place.
The Ascott is an important historical location in Eccles, but the staff there were so snippy. They claimed to have available breakfast, but it wasn't prepared for three and there were no vegan options. We didn't end up having breakfast because the little nasty man claimed we only booked 2 rooms with one adult in each. This is a lie because one room had two mugs and the other had one, and when we booked the room, our side said 3 adults and their side said 2. This is a common flaw in their booking system as we weren't the only guests to have an issue with this. We had a relative come to help us with our bags and David had left him outside in the rain, in contrast to the day prior when the nice lady had let in two of our nearest and dearest relatives to help us with the bags. The room and building was amazing, but David was an awful host and person. He also scolded another guest in front of us. If you stay here, I suggest you avoid David.
Really friendly hotel. Quirky, stylish decor in a solid old house. Plenty of parking round the back. Good location with bus timetables to hand. Quiet room, with a comfy bed. Great breakfast included of juice, cereal, toast tea and coffee or you can order a cooked English. We only stayed one night to attend a local wedding but would recommend.
Lovely stay for two nights. Room was very comfortable and beautifully presented. The breakfast was also excellent. Perfect for myself especially staying on my own, with parking available and close to all amenities. Staff were most welcoming and very friendly. Thank you.
