As with all mechanics, be very specific as to what you ask them to do. As otherwise you may end up paying far more than what you wanted to. Especially around the holiday season.
I bought a car from them and the whole process was straight-forward and easy. All of the staff I spoke to were really friendly and genuine. The car had been immaculately prepared and in the month since buying I've been really happy with the purchase. There were a couple of minor issues I spotted on the test drive and Tavern sorted these before collection without any quibbling. The oxygen sensor failed after a month, I phoned Tavern and they offered to pay for me to get it repaired locally as I don't live that close to Sheffield. They did this un-prompted, knowing that I wasn't local. Absolutely superb customer service and just made everything really easy. Highly recommended!
Have had a OK experience in the past but not so this time. Took a vehicle down for an MOT and it was returned with a broken electric window switch. To be fair you can steady the switch and the window operates - but the rocker is now loose and can slide forward in its mounting. It's hard to prove a negative - I can't prove it wasn't like that when I took it down beyond my own knowledge it wasn't. And they know that. So all I'm saying is be wary - you'll be OK if nothing goes wrong. But if there is a problem - you'll need evidence. I returned as soon as I had driven the vehicle away and was met with ambivalence, trust is a valuable commodity - it's earned and lost. And sadly it's been lost.
Broke down on a Tuesday (clutch had gone), towed to tavern and handed keys in wednesday. Car was ready on Thursday to be picked up. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. Would recommend
As a student in Sheffield, I wasn't sure which garage to use in order to confirm whether the Honda dealer's diagnosis was true on my CRV. Tavern were quick to book me in and quickly had a look at my car and by midday, confirmed the diagnosis and suggested the best course of action, being upfront about the potential price of work etc. Many thanks and I will be back! Yes I used this garage when I used to make day trips to see a friend in Sheffield and I needed some urgent work done ..as a problem cropped up .They are very polite and friendly and a good garage to use ..with good prices for a job well done.
Brilliant service and very friendly. I live 40 miles out of area but I am from Sheffield. I heard a clunk after driving through a pot hole. I popped in to this garage, and the gent said that they could look at my car the following day but it may not be ready until Friday (it was Wednesday when I went in!). To my surprise he called me the following day to advise that they repaired the damage on the eve that I dropped my car off and it was ready for collection. The cost of the repair was over £100 cheaper than a previous quote. And the quality of the work was outstanding. It drives better now than it did previously (spring and wheel bearing had gone!). Brilliant service, brilliant guys, would definitely use this garage again and recommend to others. Good old Crosspool and Sheffield.. can't fault the people :)
brilliant garage would recommend to anyone. I have been going for 12 years and have always found the service really good. The guys that work here are really fair and have helped me out at short notice countless times. I visited today having called that morning and they sorted my car out within 15 minutes of me arriving. Spoke to Tom on the phone and in the garage he was really friendly despite them being busy.
