I am loath to give a bad review to what is essentially a charity, however it operates as a shop so you would expect to get the same level of customer service. The level of incompetence in this shop is staggering. I bought a divan bed base and arranged delivery for a weekend, waited in most of the day for it to arrive only to find out that they forgot to book in the delivery. Now I can accept that mistakes do happen but as I work during the week and have no family locally I had to rearrange delivery for the following weekend. Another week spent sleeping on a mattress on the floor :( Due to the above circumstances they promised me an early delivery on the rearranged date as I had made plans for the day. Today has come and it is an afternoon delivery, so that's two weekends ruined now as I have had to alter important plans due to me not really wanting to spend another week sleeping on the floor. Shocking levels of customer service to be honest and when I rang them up to discuss they put the phone down on me. So, I won't be back and I warn others to be mindful when ordering from here. My experiences from other BhF shops has been positive but something isn't quite right in the Wigan branch. Edit - I have added a star due to the manager calling me back and sorting the issue out. Overall, still not great though

Recently bought a bookcase and chest of drawers in store. Great prices for used furniture that is still in good condition. You can pay and then collect within 7 days. We collected the furniture ourselves and the staff were very helpful carrying it out to the car.

I picked a sofa I liked, the wrong one was delivered, they overcharged me on delivery even though one of the staff said it should have been cheaper delivery. 4 days after my order and my sofa still has not turned up. I know this is the British heart foundation but I will not use this shop ever again.

Thought we’d do a good thing by donating a 2k couch but because it had manufacturing holes for screws, refused to take. Came like that 18mnths old. Absolutely ridiculous as would have been snapped up. Shame on BHF. Cancelled my charity subscription

I have just give them a call to donate a sofa which is in a very good condition as we don't smoke and we don't have pets. I was told on the phone if it's no label they cannot take the sofa? Whaaat? I'm donating (give it for free), a sofa in a very cood condition that I personally have used, I'm not a store to keep the labels on the product or the packaging! This is ridiculous as being the 4th store and everyone has an excuse for not accepting the sofa, including yours. Answer: yes it has the fire labels as mentioned on the phone and the orginal label of the sofa too.

Booked a furniture collection. They confirmed date of collection. Phoned in morning to say they would be there between 3-6pm. Waited in for 3 hours (not my house), phoned various times but they would not answer phone. Left at 6pm as had other commitments, they called at 6.20pm to say they would be there soon. No apology or anything, was pointless at this time as could not go back and had already rearranged my plans to be there from 3-6pm. You try and do some good by donating and just gets thrown back in your face! USELESS!!!

I bought a writing desk/bureau at the Mesnes Street shop, and was told it would be delivered the following day. I was also told the delivery men would phone me shortly before they were due to arrive. The next day I received a phone call at 11.25am telling me my delivery would be with me within 45 minutes (by 12.10pm at the latest). When it had not arrived by 1.10pm, I phoned the delivery men, who told me they had been delayed, but would definitely be with me within the next hour. A further 90 minutes passed, and no sign of my delivery. I phoned again, and was told my delivery would now be after 3pm. It finally arrived at 3.10pm - a full 3 hours and 45 minutes after they had phoned to tell me they were on their way. It was only after they had left the bureau in my home and driven away that I discovered it had been damaged. A drawer knob had been knocked off and was missing, and there were a number of scrapes and scratches on the woodwork. None of these faults had been present when I viewed it in the shop, or I would not have bought it. Appalling service. The only reason I have awarded them one star is because a 'zero star' option is not available. The Wigan branch of BHF won't see any more of my custom, and a complaint has been made by me to the CEO of the charity.

Your furniture collection service have unfortunately just been on a wasted journey as the furniture was rejected. I was completely up front when I arranged collection of 4 items of Youngers Toledo furniture and to make sure it was acceptable attempted to send photos to a number supplied by your representative but this failed. May I suggest you make available an email/mobile number where photos can be sent to help you and donors in the future. Also when the collection was booked I was told only chairs with a fire safety label could be a accepted which is perfectly reasonable but today it came to light your collectors could not take the table without the chairs. Although your collection staff were polite and sympathetic with us, dealing with your charity unfortunately has not been a good experience.
