Used here for a few MOT’s and problems over the years and always felt like I wasn’t being ripped off (some garages see a woman come in and rub their hands together!) but here they’re always trustworthy and works are carried out efficiently and quickly. I was stuck after an MOT with a family emergency and he even offered to bring my car to me. Go above and beyond and will only ever use this garage from now on - highly reccomend
After being unable to inflate my tyre at the fuel station due to the faulty machine, I went to the garage and they were good enough to help me out by sorting my tyre out. They also helped me with a wiper blade which had come off. Thank you very much Brimington Garage :-)
Took my car for some “major” repairs following a failed MOT elsewhere.(A garage where they know each other.Unbeknown to me until after).Initially, he couldn’t be more helpful, offering to assist me that very day which I was extremely grateful for having had the worst day & being stressed to death about where and how I would get my repairs done in time.He even asked me if I had a way of getting home on that first contact. When I got there, unfortunately it couldn’t done there & then (or so he said having called the MOT garage I’d just been to, to check the nature of repair),so I arranged to bring it back today- 1 week later. I had my MOT cert with me first time round so I showed this to him to look at & specified it was the major repairs I wanted sorting & id get round to the advisories in due course.A price for all that needed doing of £260 was quoted & I saw him write it down in the diary at the time for today’s date when I was logged in for the work to be done.CV joint boots needed replacing on both sides,new set of wipers, new reg plate on the back & a new indicator bulb (or so it said on my MOT in hand writing that I presume they forgot to input electronically).I rang after I got home from dropping my car off to remind that the “dangerous” fault on my MOT didn’t need doing as I’d sorted that on the day of MOT (a tyre) & to remind him (as per the MOT print out) that an “indicator bulb white” was handwritten on it also, so he didn’t forget and would replace this as arranged within the quote given.(I hadn’t checked it myself beforehand naively). In this same call, he asked me if he’d give me a quote? (He’d written it in the diary for today the week previous as I watched him do it?) I assume in attempt to raise the price and rip me off further so I said yes and reminded him of this.The plus was my car was ready by 1pm, having dropped it first thing, but upon arrival to collect my car, a woman went to get me to pay via the card machine before even handing me the receipt of which only detailed “MOT repairs”. Just to be safe, I handed it back and asked if the work carried out could be detailed on the receipt so she gave him this back and he wrote on 3 of 4 repairs stating the indicators are all working and so this was not done.Then he referenced number plate lights & I had no idea what he was talking about and he’d said “but you have one working” so he knew exactly what the issue was, did not repair it and still charged me within the price! Although I appreciate this would’ve been a slither of the price, this wasn’t adjusted at all to reflect that the bulbs weren’t replaced & only when I left later & had a proper look did I see that it’s the tiny 2 bulbs next to a front indicator (the reg plate lights he mentioned) that are completely out & are MANDATORY by law! Id detailed what the MOT cert had said & he saw this in person the week prior but you’d think a “mechanic” would’ve checked that out being as he knew the guy who runs the MOT centre elsewhere that I had taken it to if he needed clarity (which evidently he didn’t need as he mentioned my reg plate lights). I can see my wipers have been changed and my back reg plate as that’s obvious even for an inexperienced woman! But having read some of the negative reviews on here, I’m not confident the CV boots have been done now so will be taking elsewhere shortly to check! Red flags: - no itemisation on the receipt until I specifically asked for this. - charged me for a repair he didn’t even carry out that he knows is a legal requirement and was on my MOT cert, despite being given the cert to look at in person during my first visit for all major repairs to be sorted! Best part is, I took it to the MOT centre after to go through the test again and they put it through as a pass even though the very bulbs they listed as a “major” weren’t replaced!Couldn’t write it. I hate going to a garage as a woman because they see you coming & interact with you like a sales man ensuring you feel like you won’t be ripped off and are in safe hands but it couldn’t be further from the truth.
I totally recommend this garage. Work is always speedy, excellent and reasonably priced. It is amazing to know that the work on your car is being carried out by decent, trustworthy and fair individuals. This is a priceless thing in this day and age.
