Disappointing. We came for lunch on a Friday. I had the quiche with a very tiny salad covered up with coleslaw and added the jacket for an extra £1. The quiche was not fresh that day but aside from being very crispy on top and very small was OK. The small salad was found under the coleslaw. The jacket potato was an odd one, it was a definitely a variety which shouldn't be eaten as a jacket and it was a pale grey colour inside. My sister had the chilli jacket which was OK as the nice chilli masked the odd jacket. However the sandwiches looked good which other people where eating.

Unbelievable location for a lovely cafe (inside the cathedral). Great service and a very spacious historic place. It feels like you're eating in one of Harry Potter films - truly magical ;)) Very good prices and a decent variety of hot drinks. Cakes available too if you fancy an afterlunch treat.

Really nice and different place. Really ancient and reminiscent. Just for the prices needs to have a better coffee.

What a place to have food and drink! Amazing! This must have been where the monks used to eat. We had the winter vegetable soup. Nice not salty. Atmosphere is really fine.

Pleasant stop for dinner in the refectory at Chester cathedral. I couldn't help wondering how many other people has eaten in the spaces that we occupied over the hundreds of years that this has been in existence. Typical cafe food served quickly and friendly. Reasonable price, but with the option to buy a dinner for a homeless person as well. Liked that idea!

Cafe 1092 is fantastic - truly the best atmosphere for an afternoon tea or cake. Lunch is also available, though sandwiches felt a little expensive compared to the other items. Service was friendly and fast, and tables were fairly full but turned over quickly.

Popped in for lunch while out and about in Chester. Food was great (not cheap) but quality is worth it. The vaulted ceiling, stained glass windows and tapestry make for a nice setting for lunch. No need to to oay the voluntary entrance fee just walk in

We went there last Saturday and found it an oasis of calm in the middle of a busy city. Due to a faulty train we just missed breakfast so we had a lunch instead. There were both vegetarian and gluten free options the menu. I had the Welsh Rarebit, brilliant, while my wife had a gluten free cheese sandwich with a large side salad. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. We will definitely be going again.

One of the most interesting cafes I have ever been to! Lovely staff, very reasonably priced food and drink.
