“Fantastic breakfast in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond to meet everyone's needs. There's a mixed clientele, children to elderly all welcomed. Highly recommended for a coffee and breakfast.”
“Gluten free 10/10 I’ve been for breakfast at the Bluebell Café a number of times with family, friends and colleagues which have always been great. Today, I visited for Lunch and was completely blown away. Absolutely delicious food, wide range of tempting choices and the fantastic team are so lovely and welcoming. Thank you ❤️”
“Mandy is amazing at what she does. Just wow, her food is unreal! What a talented lady. Can’t wait to come again!”
“We just popped in for a late breakfast. My other half is not a cake or scone person and almost everywhere stops serving bacon or sausage butties at 12 o clock so we were delighted to find them available here. They were very tasty and the bread was delicious, the coffee was just as I like it mellow and not bitter. The building is bright and colourful with a lovely outdoor seating area and the service was efficient and cheerful. We will certainly be back.”
“First time ordering from here and it wont be the last every item on our order was fantastic. Our daughter recommended this fantastic place to us,my parents visited before they went to Thailand and they enjoyed it. Now we have tried it.I was hooked after just 2 mouthfuls of my chicken panang. The spring rolls, fishcakes and the stuffed wings exquisite. We are celebrating our 27th anniversary and this was our anniversary meal. I guarantee we will be ordering again thank you so much.”
“We popped to Hoole a few weeks back and had seen this restaurant and said we'd come back and try it. So we did and oh my days it was so delicious. The portion sizes were huge. There is an option to choose half portions which I thought was a lovely idea and great for lunch times if you didn't want a big meal. We will definitely be coming back”
“We’ve been to Chez Jules in Chester to celebrate our 10th anniversary. And what an incredible experience we’ve had there. It was a great surprise, we had delicious food and Ula who was our waitress delivered an impeccable service, she was extremely friendly and kind. Our special thank you to make our special day even better!”
“The menu is great. Many options that you won't easily find together somewhere else. We got a Chateaubriand which is served for 2, and it was great as medium cooked. I would prefer it in thinner slices, but this one was also OK. Juicy, soft, and pink inside. We also got sides of Slow-Cooked Beef Shin and Stuffed Bone Marrow. Bone Marrow could be too fatty for some, but for me it was great as is. Beef Shin was a bit sweet, of being caramelized, i guess. I just didn't like that every single thing in the menu is served with some big amount of grilled/fried onion which I think is the signature of the venue. It was with every single thing we ordered - and it's too much of it at the end. With the desserts, they have quite a lot options again. we got creme brule and biscuit torte. Biscuit torte was a bit too sweet but creme brule was amazing. You also have options of ordering mini-desserts with hot drink costing only 6.50 and I liked this opiton. What I ordered was a full size of it and I guess it might be too big for some after eating that much. What I didn't like regarding the venue is the service which makes you wait quite a long time for only asking for your order. It was too much of allowance for us to think :) Also, we have been seated to a table which was dark due to the lamp which wasn't working. I was told that the lamp was broken for some reason whan I asked that to be turned off - because it was just too dark without that working. And I didn't like that the staff had me seated there knowing it wasn't working while we had some other options. We had been seated to somewhere else then. The price is higher than most of the steak houses in the city, but for an understandable reason after having this experience. You can park your cark in the parking area of the court cross the street. Not an effort to complain for walking to the venue from the parking area.”
“From the moment we called to make our reservation, the service was exceptional. Stavros was incredibly polite and friendly on the phone, and that same warm attitude continued when we arrived — he greeted us with a smile and guided us to our table with genuine hospitality. The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was full of flavour and beautifully presented, and it was clear that a lot of care went into the cooking. Combined with the welcoming atmosphere, the whole experience was truly fantastic. Highly recommend — we’ll definitely be returning!”
“Wow - find of the day. Unbelievable choice of craft ales on tap and in cans and bottles. Real friendly atmosphere with like minded craft ale lovers plus a great bar tender who certainly knows his business.”
“Lovely local community cafe. Both had a breakfast which was hot, tasty and filling. Staff friendly and decor is cute. Definitely will be back. Value for money, good service and excellent food.”

“Lovely little quirky place to have a coffee and a snack. The food is really nice, hot and well presented. The lady who I think is the owner is super helpful and attentive to all customers. Will visit again as I have a job running a couple of miles from here.”
“Lovely café with friendly staff. Only pipped in here from a couple of hot drinks but will definitely be coming again for food.”
“Popped in this morning after a long, hot bus ride and fancied a cuppa. Decided on a sausage sandwich and a coffee. Both arrived quickly and the sandwich was amazing. A lovely, small cafe with great, friendly staff. A very pleasant find, will definitely use here again.”
“Been going to the zoo for years and wished I knew this little gem of a cafe was here before now. Found by chance. Fantastic friendly service, brilliant tasty food with a big selection of choice, quantity and quality. Would definitely return again”
“Had a great evening. The building is beautiful being situated right on the river, but the internal decor is just fantastic, giving real redneck American vibes. From the moment I arrived all of the staff were great. Really friendly and attentive without being over the top and annoying. I had fajitas which were incredible - genuinely tasty! I finished off with a rum milkshake. Not going to lie, I felt like I was going to have a food coma when I left. Really great evening. Great food and great service. Thank you!”
“Visited near Christmas in an afternoon for lunch. The food was really nice - and a little bit more unusual for what you'd normally expect from a 'tourist attraction' type place! The staff were friendly and helpful with assisting with a gluten intolerance that one of our party has. Would definitely recommend for if you are visiting Chester Zoo!”
“Amazing experience! Everything was 10/10. The atmosphere is lovely, it's in such a lovely spot. The staff were amazing, we went for my birthday and they gave us several drinks on the house, all specially selected to couple well with each course. They all knew so much about the wine and food, which was so tasty!! Definitely would go back again and recommend to anyone”
“Classic Chester city centre pub with low beams and darker interior although the music livened the place up nicely. Enjoyed my visit and a decent selection of real ales and candles lit on all the tables adding to a nice relaxing vibe. Looks historical on the outside and even more so after you enter.”
“On holiday we found this wonderful place to have lunch. We visited twice and enjoyed the lovely food and warm welcome from the delightful well presented staff. They are all an asset to the business and could not make people feel more welcome.Highly recommended. Thank you everyone.”
“Sophie and Erica were awesome staff, so helpful and friendly. The fish and chips was exceptional, plenty to share between the 2 of us with a garlic bread. The atmosphere was a typical English pub - great service and very warm and welcoming.”
“Absolutely excellent. Lovely food, extremely friendly and welcoming staff and not expensive at all. Easy to park directly outside & they even have home baked cookies & treats. Only just discovered today and wish we'd known about it years ago.Well worth a drive out just to visit. Hidden little gem.”
“What a fantastic place this is. We found it by accident and were not disappointed. It is run by volunteers for the community. It needs all the support it can get. Had a lovely breakfast made and served by lovely people. If we lived nearer this would definitely be our local. Please support”
“Lovely breakfast! He swapped my egg for black pudding plus toast & tea £8.95 was beautiful bacon & sausage too! Recommend!”
“Excellent food and coffee here. We had the best Eggs on Toast in Town. Every Table had Customers and the service was fast and friendly. Many thanks, recommended.”
“Popped in today for a full English breakfast and latte each for me and my husband. Lovely cafe, centrally located next to big Tescos, polite staff and very good prices and portion sizes-can understand why this place is popular. Impressed with it overall and will come back:)”
“Manc working in Chester. My God, what a place this is!!! The best breakfast in the North West by a mile. Have a breakfast every day and nowhere and I mean nowhere is as good as this. Food perfect. X2 cheeky birds behind the counter. Good food and a good laugh”
“The girls and I came to Bar Lounge as it was recommended by our friend that lives in Chester and it was lovely. The weather was gorgeous so we were able to sit outside and the atmosphere was great. The food and wine was delicious and Nick was so friendly and welcoming, he couldn’t do enough for us. We will definitely be back when in Chester again, thank you!”
