“We stopped by for an impromptu lunch. We visited at 12:30 and luckily there was a table. Although it was incredibly busy, service was prompt, as was the food. We each ordered the bacon, brie and cranberry ciabatta and shared a portion of cheesy chips. The food was delicious; the bacon was nice and thick with plenty of flavour and the chips were obviously home made and actually tasted like potatoes. We did have to wait for the chips but the issue was resolved quickly. Highly recommended place, excellent value, delicious food and friendly staff”
“The staff at geek retreat are very welcoming and inclusive. It feels more like a second home than a shop and everyone is really friendly with each other”
“Along side the Market café probably the longest established café. Good simple fry ups and great value. Some staff don't smile much.”
“Excellent in every way - apart from perhaps the chap in the café shouting at a Dad and his young child for riding their bikes in the park. OK, rules are rules, but chill a bit, man.”
“Great breakfast nicely cooked 3 full English breakfast and one fried egg on toast. It would be nice if the staff smiled a bit. It sometimes feels as though it's a " think yourself lucky you are being served," approach to customer service. It was busy at the time to be fair, and the staff looked pushed. But I've had the same when it isn't busy. Will persevere as the food is tasty and good value.”
“Great friendly staff always great service”
“Loved it! 3 walking routes available, we started on the shortest, got mixed up and then ended up on the longest. One is 1.9 miles another 2.1 and the finally 3.9miles as a loop. It is colour coded to prevent this happening but we were a bit thick and went from green to red but it made a lovely walk as we weren't in a rush. Very pleasant walking trails around the lake with so many tiny frogs bouncing around on the paths so do watch your footing walking about. They are about the size of a 5p so some good eye sight is needed or else you will be taking dead frogs home in the treds of your boots. Nice green areas, great for a casual walk or biking, and as you can see from the pictures, good views and large walking areas. Cafe on site, reasonable pricing and tastes amazing. Free toilets and certainly wheelchair friendly. Great for dog walkers as the area is so large you really can spend the day here and venture as far as you wish around the area. Parking was good, there's 3 or 4 car parks available so if you are meeting with some one make sure you know where before hand. ** like we didn't make that mistake....yes another one** One of the parking sites we visited was huge and not bad pricing to be honest and to help I have attached attached picture for thee to see. Happy venturing!!”
“Costa coffee is Costa coffee, but the view from this place is awesome, and it's a great pit stop for grabbing a brew before the film starts in the Odeon above.”
“Quiet and lovely food, worth the price and filling.”
“Great time and loads of friendly people as always, and food was great! Perfect venue”
“Great staff, shame I can’t remember their name. Really lovely to my 1 year old and so helpful”
“Located within Asda store barons quay this cafe has ample seating. Queuing can sometimes take a while if you go at busy times mainly because there is only one coffee machine and not because the staff are slow. You can only go as quickly as the machines will allow i suppose. All of the Cafe staff are very polite friendly and helpful. There is table service here. It is reasonably priced. Asda cafe have Drinks loyalty cards. Get 6 stamps on your card and receive a free coffee.”
“My 'go to' cafe stop when cycling around that area. Friendly staff, lovely coffee, and great cakes.”
“I had heard about the tea room from others so decided to take my mother for afternoon tea today. It was absolutely fantastic and we were both trying really hard not to gobble everything down to get on to the next treat. We savoured the sandwiches, the numerous small cakes and then the scone. The whole atmosphere was welcoming and we were not rushed in any way by the friendly staff. Would definitely visit again and great value for money. I also loved the mango and passion fruit green tea. A big well done to Poppy and her team for creating such a blissful experience.”
“What a great find! Good selection of craft ales, lager and a good selection of Lilley's cider! You can't go wrong! Friendly service, dog friendly, seating outside! Great playlist too, both inside and out!”
“Great little pub on the canal side. Bar man was super friendly and welcoming. Shame I’m not local but would definitely recommend when passing.”
“Great bar good atmosphere, bar staff friendly beer well kept.”
“This place is a little gem in Blakemere Village Good beers, lovely staff/owners and great atmosphere They don’t do food but you can order from the food outlets within the centre…”
“This was our first experience with an English tearoom and we are so glad it was at the delightful Dormouse Haven. We had arrived early to rent a Black Prince narrowboat for the canal and Petra warmly welcomed us to stay out of the rain as long as we needed while waiting for our boat to be ready. As tea-naive Americans, we enjoyed her recommendation for Yorkshire tea, and the Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea sandwiches, cakes and scones. The food was absolutely delicious and obviously created with passion. Too much for the two of us to eat so we took the leftovers and enjoyed them that night on the boat. And then some for breakfast the next morning. As a couple of artists, we really enjoyed and appreciated the creativity of the Alice in Wonderland decor and atmosphere. Petra's vision for the restaurant is really cool. And thanks so much to Petra for the hospitality. A highlight of our first trip to England!”

“Chilled vibes, good prices and loving the style!”
“It's really good. Beer was tasty and pretty cheap really. Everyone who worked there was either nice or very cool. They do gigs on a Monday night! Well recommend. I'll go again if they let me back.”
“Went for lunch on recommendation of a friend and wasnot disappointed. Had the 3 course fixed price lunch. Lovely fresh cooked food, generous portion, great value for money. Friendly staff, though did seem to be a little short handed. Lovely environment, nice and clean, plenty of parking. Will definitely be back.”
“Amazing food ran by lovely people. Never had a bad meal, everything is so fresh and tasty. Would recommend to any one. Veggie or not.”
“2ND JULY 2025 ‘Wandering Wednesday’ was back on track today after a number of hurdles over the past few weeks, Neil’s birthday, our Anniversary, Neil covering a shift and me being poorly last week. So today Hubby Neil and I took a good Wander out on the beaten track towards Delamere, to a beautiful pub called ‘The Fishpool Inn’, just off a main road and sat in a lovely pub garden area….. the pub inside was spotless and tastefully decorated. All staff were very polite and were smartly dressed in black attire. The layout of the pub where we were sat was horse based, which was right up my street, some of the tables were set out on old cast iron horse stalls, very impressive…. Bridles on the walls, along with past Polo players and polo mallets…. We both went straight to entrée…. A Lady who worked at IKEA many moons ago recommended us to go there…. Janet Hughes….. it didn’t disappoint…. Thank you Jan…. So on that note we both went for the fish and chips…. With proper soaked overnight mushy peas and homemade tartare sauce, plus a round of bread and butter each. All of the food was beautiful and piping hot, you could taste the salt of the sea in the haddock….. portion sizes were reasonable and not too over facing. Would we go back….. Definitely 100% Plus it’s a lovely drive out in our Cheshire countryside on a beautiful day as today, seeing some of the old houses and farm houses along the way, they were stunning! All in all…. A Grand Day out xxx❤️”
“We went to the cafe for a family lunch. (Pre-booked afternoon tea). It was a very idyllic setting with a stately charm. The food was delicious and the service excellent.”
“The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. They had divided the tables using Italian flags which made it bright and cheerful. I didn't feel like an exhibit as I do when separated by screens”
“Just had a drink with family. Great atmosphere. Friendly place. Great place to catch up”
“Another garden on our doorstep that we hadn't visited before. A very interesting "natural" garden in a lovely location. This garden is also looked after by two people, brothers, who have been here for 30 years i believe. Well worth supporting. The wildlife is good here too with one, I guess, very tame robin.”
