“Wonderful hidden gem! The staff were absolutely lovely and you can tell from the quality of the food and drinks that they love what they do. Highly recommend the rose latte and raspberry mocha while they're still available on their seasonal menu! Beautiful experience to end our stay in Edinburgh :D”
“Had the Turkish breakfast. All of it absolutely lovely - feta, halloumi, sucuk and fresh salads. Really good coffee too, and the service excellent and friendly. Would certainly go back and try some of the other Turkish specialities.”
“Had a wonderful experience at Khartoum Cafe. The owner was friendly, attentive and created a lovely atmosphere. The food itself was delicious: so flavourful and balanced. I especially loved the Salata Aswad. Been past this place so many times and kicking myself it’s taken me so long to go in but now I have, I will definitely be back.”
“A clear recommendation! The food was cooked to perfection, tasty and with fantastic flavours. The ambiente, the service and pleasant music couldn't have been better. Also the persian variations of Latte are worth a try. The price for this quality and culinary experience is simply unbeatable.”
“I loved this place! Incredible coffee, super nice staff, and it was so cool to be able to choose from 7 different types of coffee beans. They took me through the different types and I ended up trying two different ones. You can tell they really care about their coffee! Staff was super friendly as well :).”
“Ordered a gingerbread latte with oat milk. Hands down the best coffee I’ve had from a coffee stand, cafe or anywhere in Edinburgh.”
“The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. I ordered the sausage roll, latte with a bottle of water. My Airbnb host told me to check out this location for a quick bite, I’m glad I went!”
“Set within the grounds of St Columbus Hospice and run by volunteers. Fantastic space and shop. Scrumptious homebakes and soup. Voluntary donation required as payment to the exceedingly low prices charged. Go in you will not be disappointed.”
“We had a group booking here and tried the churrasco experience - it was fabulous! Delicious cuts of beef, chicken, pork and lamb always arriving, and access to the market table. Also tasted a brilliant wagyu beef!”
“Ignore the negative reviews. My partner and I had such a lovely experience here. The food was flavoursome, quick to come out, and the waiter was on top form. So so lovely and knowledgeable. ORDER THE SPATCHCOCK CHICKEN. It’s an underdog and better than the lamb - my partner and the waiter agree. Falls off the bone and is so flavourful. Bacon and spring onion mash is unmatched. Get it. Or regret it.”
“It was my first time in Scotland and first Indian restaurant in scotland and I must say that really great food. We asked them to make it Indian spicy and it was worth saying that. All the dishes were delicious. Being served and taken care by their two of the girls and they were very hospitable and good at their work. Highly Recommended”
“What a true gem amongst so many similarly looking establishments. Just behind the Usher Hall, perfectly located for a pre-theatre bite to eat. Lovely interior full of Persian motives. Fantastic staff members, knowing what a very good customer service is without being intrusive and overwhelming. Beautifully appointed table with lovely crockery and cutlery. Food looking so delicious you can't wait to start. Everything prepared fresh from good ingredients. No GMO, emulsifiers etc. Just pure not artificially improved food full of fresh herbs, spices and organic toppings. Good wine list. Prices won't brake a bank (by latest standards). Highly recommend!”
“I haven’t had a home-cook Pho for a long time and it’s so heart warming to taste something that delicious - totally recommend and would come back again and again!”
“Went to the cafe twice— it was that good. The pancakes were to die for for breakfast. Burger I had was very tasty, and not at all dry. Coffee and tea served were both astounding, and the full breakfast I had on my second visit was very delicious. To top it all, the service was top-notch. They were accommodating and were engaging with us kindly. A must visit if you’re around Royal Mile!”
“Me and my sister popped in for a roll and coffee. Food was so fresh and hot and was absolutely delicious! Lovely staff as well, next time we’re in Edinburgh we’ll definitely be back. Also the new pumpkin spice syrup was lovely ☺️”
“Lunch fabulous at Café Marlayne (76 Thistle Street) which I can highly recommend! I started with PATE DE POISSON (Arbroath smokie pate, horseradish, creamy cheese) and then PITHIVIERS DE LAPIN (Rabbit, leek and aged cheddar in butter puff pastry with grain mustard sauce) my main. Excellent service, excellent food!”
“What a fantastic fun relaxing time we all had. Great choice of items to paint. Staff were friendly and so helpful . We will hopefully going back very soon. Highly recommend if you're looking for something different and fun to do for all ages.”
“My favourite cafe in Edinburgh! A perfect spot to sit to work or relax with a cake and coffee. Krem Karamel Cafe & More is a brilliant spot to stop by, especially if you're visiting the Royal Botanical Garden. It is a bit on the pricier side but the cakes are amazing and the atmosphere is so cute. It has lots of windows inside which brights the place up and they have lovely menu options along with a plethora of cakes to decide from. Its always hard to pick! They have very cute items for sale too at the back of the shop and at the front they have a little box of creations (earrings and pins) made by a young girl in Istanbul. I love seeing the cafe support a young independant creator, her work is so lovely and was excited to not only bring home a cute set of earrings but also to be able to help her jewelry making endeavors. Her Instagram is pera.craft. The cafe also seem to sell their cakes (if I am not mistaken) to other cafes around Edinburgh- so surely they are one of the best! So if you are looking for the perfect place to stop for a slice of cake and great atmosphere, definitely make the walk to Krem Karamel Cafe & More. (A beautiful walk from city center as well, and you can also take some of the trails around Edinburgh from other spots to find yourself there as well!) Also the bathroom was very clean and large. A good place to spot for a coffee and use the restroom if walking through the city.”
“Absolutely lovely. My food was great and everything else I saw come out I also wanted as it looked amazing. Scrambled egg on "toast" (was actually a small baguette style bread) was the best Ive ever had. Unique and delicious. Definitely be coming again many more times.”
“My lovely and I went in for dinner and the chef claimed they are famous for the angus lasagna so there we went. Oh my. I believe the chef has created a new religion based on the dish. Spectacular! The service was marvelous and elegant for a small place - big stature. Our first Scottish restaurant meal was sooo memorable.”
“The whole visit was amazing. The best poached eggs ever, very fast service, my Dad's best ever hot chocolate, and he's 89. I cannot fault a single thing here. My Dad's trip to Kirkcaldy was perfect. Thank you.”
“Absolutely loved Cafe Gallo! The bacon, egg, avocado & ’nduja was delicious – perfectly balanced and full of flavour. The coffees were spot on – smooth, rich and expertly made. It’s a brilliant little spot to sit back and watch the world go by in Stockbridge. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere just right – relaxed but with a nice buzz. Definitely a new favourite.”
“An amazing place for coffee, brunch or desserts. The people who run the store are very polite and friendly and most definitely make you feel welcome. The food is well prepared with fresh ingredients and good portions. The value for money is high as for Edinburgh standards , and especially Morgningside , is hard to find anything in this range with this quality. Strongly recommended!”
“Such a neat cafe! My family and I came here for breakfast. The kids loved it, the coffee was brill and we felt so welcomed by the beautiful staff! Thank you to Irene and everyone for such a great experience. We’ll be back!”
“Amazing all around! An absolute hidden gem that should not be missed by coffee lovers and foodies alike! I cannot commend enough the owners for the amazing attention to detail, dedication, and craft they show to everything they are selling in their shop. The homemade sandwiches and cakes/desserts are incredibly delicious, bursting with flavour, and just feed the soul! I definitely had the best Basque Cheesecake outside of Spain; totally worth the extra calories! Pair everything up with very tasty coffee, and you definitely have an amazing pit stop to start the day or recharge! Should we return to Edinburgh, we will return without a doubt!”
“I've been to an event at Bridgend Farmhouse and also recently visited the cafe. The space is marvellous and quite welcoming. Food is simple but tasty. Wide range of hot and cold drinks. I'll be back soon!”
“We’re incredibly grateful for the outstanding food you provided for our corporate event! The akara falafel was a real standout—everyone couldn’t stop raving about how delicious it was. The salad bowl was vibrant and fresh, and the lemon sponge cake was hands-down the best I’ve had in ages—perfectly moist and absolutely delightful! The two trays of lemon cake disappeared in no time; it was such a hit that we only wish we had ordered more! A huge thank you to Tosin for making the entire ordering and delivery process so seamless. We’re already looking forward to reaching out again to explore more of the fantastic options on your menu. Warm thanks from all of us at Hymans Robertson!”
“Had the breakfast bun and a cappuccino after a long travel. Hit the spot! Absolutely coming back to this gem!”
“Great local bar! Pool table, live music, great jukebox and amazing bar staff! Jenna's a great bar manager & Kerri and the rest of the bar staff give a great service and you couldn't ask for a better atmosphere. Would recommend to everyone, any age.”
“Amazing cafe with genuine Spanish cuisine. We had two sandwiches, a slice of tortilla, drinks, coffee and dessert and everything tasted great. It was full of other Spanish people, so you can tell it's the real deal. The owner was lovely and it had such a homey atmosphere. Such good value as well. Can't wait to visit their sister restaurant in Tollcross.”
