“Our stay in Circus Lane was ideal. We have stayed in many self catering properties and this one certainly rates in the top three. Everything you needed to make your stay comfortable. We were met on arrival and shown where everything was. Many thanks for the flowers, lovely touch. Property was spotless and bed very comfortable . En suite shower superb. Situated within a few minutes walk to the shops and restaurants and walks along the river. Not far from the Botanical Gardens. Frequent buses if needed. Thank you Great Base, would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends.”
“Beautiful guest house, better than a lot of hotels I have stayed in. Lovely family hosts”
“Amazing location and massive apartment. Great facilities. Perfect for family of 4. Highly recommend this place. We would have stayed a second time when we came back from the highlands but they had a 2 night minimum stay.”
“The appartment was beautiful! Very bright and spacious. The location was really close to the old town and main attractions. We didn’t even use the bus, it was like 20 min walking distance. Definitely recommend!”
“One of the greatest Hotels we've ever stayed. Fantastic beer packages (we enjoyed the beer school and our tap at the room), great food, friendly staff and overall a complete new and amazing experience. I wish an expansion of Doghouse Hotels all over the world!”
“Absolutely loved my stay at Seabreeze B&B! Beautiful rooms with fantastic sea views. Salma was a wonderful host - even made sure that she had vegan items in for my breakfasts. She was very easy going and made sure I had everything I needed, whilst letting me feel at home. The decor and facilities are very well done to ensure a lovely, comfortable stay. I loved walking along Portobello beach, and the bus stop is super convenient next door to head into the city centre with no trouble. Would definitely stay here again!”
“Extremely comfortable accommodation with lovely owners and spectacular views. Well positioned to explore the many East Lothian coastline locations as well as further afield.”
“Lovely place, lovely staff, excellent service. I had to spent an unexpected extra night in Scotland because of a car breakdown, and they were the first place that had room for a family of 6. Location is excellent, great views from the lodge. Staff very friendly and great service. It made me wish I was a golfer so I would have a genuine reason to come back.”
“Very friendly and helpful. Good knowledge of area and places to go. Facilities were excellent, level ground to park on. We were very pleased and will book the site again and let friends and family how good the place is.”
“By far one of the best hotels I have ever been to, Taia (unsure of spelling) the receptionist was the kindest sweetest person and made for hospitality. She made us feel so so welcome. Our Rooms facilities were INCREDIBLE the whole concept of the hotel is so chill and welcoming. Only teeny tiny little thing is the coffee could be replenished daily but that is me absolutely nitpicking. It was a perfect experience all around. (Wouldn’t recommend for young kids, seems more catered to adults/teens which I appreciated)”
“Very nice space for a holiday. Close to Edinburg Castle and shops. Apartment was clean and tidy upon arrival! Would definitely stay again.”
“We had such an amazing stay here . It was so peaceful and relaxing. Waking up with fields and Highland cows surrounding us was so beautiful . You can't feed or pet the cows but that's perfectly ok they are genuinley so close to the lodge that you can have a wonderful interaction with them . You have the road in the front but it's really not bothering because the lodges are at the back and there isn't a huge traffic either. The views were gorgeous . The lodge was very clean and has everything you need . There were some welcoming gifts which was so lovely . Jazelle is an amazing , friendly ,caring , helpful , reliable host . She would always help us when we needed something . It's around 30min driving to Edinburgh but it was ideal . You can have the buzyness of the city but afterwards you can go back to the peace of the countryside . We already said that when we're going back to Edinburgh we will go back there . Totally worth it .”
“Nice and clean, pub onsite, staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Bus stop outside that goes to and from the city centre.”
“You must stay at this hotel! Not only is the location absolutely perfect, the room is so smartly designed and the beds were so comfortable. The decor was absolutely fantastic as well. Despite its location, the hotel was very quiet. The staff were super wonderful and helpful, and gave us great recommendations for food and drink along with some fun history about Edinburgh (a special shout-out to Martin). Would stay here again 10/10”
“Excellent reception! Although we arrived early, they welcomed us warmly and prepared the rooms for us. They even upgraded our room, which was a wonderful surprise. The hotel’s location is truly fantastic, and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. A special thanks to the young lady who received us — her hospitality was outstanding. Fahad & Maha”
“We were gifted a voucher for Dinner Bed &Breakfast as we decided to stay Sunday to Monday we opted for Sunday late lunch and the Bed & Breakfast. From when we arrived we had a very friendly welcome from the reception staff, we were given all the information details. The room was very clean with everything needed for our stay . We had a 3 course lunch which was excellent and the best Sunday lunch we have had in a very long time. As it was an anniversary we had complementary Champagne, the service was exceptional with at least 3 different staff attending us nothing was too much trouble and at the end of the meal we were given a plate with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate with Turkish delight and chocolates very nice touch. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and again excellent service would like to thank Kirsty and all the staff we will definitely come back. Ann and Andy Brown”
“Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location in the city, but not too busy of a spot, so no loud noises waking you up. Rooms are very comfortable, bed was soft and cushioned but supportive, very comfortable. We had room service the first night since we got in kind of late. Food was pretty good. Would stay here again and highly recommend the hotel.”
“was not a guest at the hotel but came by for dinner at the court, and was perhaps the best meal of my whole time in edinburgh. the staff were all lovely and attentive, without being overbearing. we had the tasting menu, and the food was all so delicious, the wine pairings absolutely perfect. will definitely be back to try the signature dishes. i would recommend highly to stop by on any visit or special occasion, the space is exceptional and the service was top notch. a special shoutout to elena too for taking care of us all night and making our evening so wonderful, she was exceptional all night making all the right touches that gave for the most wonderful time. thank you all, look forward to visiting again soon!”
“Really nice hotel, staff were very professional, Tomasz on the front desk was super helpful. Room was very clean and modern. Breakfast was very good. The spa was the best part, awesome experience. Hotel has discount parking onsite.”
“This is the second time I have stayed here. This visit however, was nicer. I was met with very friendly staff as always upon checking in. We were then told that we had been selected for a free upgrade to a suite and was given free parking as well as a welcome drink each and some lovely shortbread for our room. This was such a lovely surprise and made our trip even more special. The hotel is always lovely and clean, not to mention very handy for the tram. I will most definitely come back here. The staff are an asset to the place. You are made to feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble for them. Highly recommend this hotel.”
“Our second stay at the Ibis Styles St. Andrews Square was just as pleasant our first. The staff was friendly and super helpful, calling a taxi, cleaning up breakfast dishes, guiding our dining choices, etc. The rooms are small but very efficiently appointed. The shower worked well, the bed was comfortable, and we had everything we needed, even fresh milk to go with the water kettle and tea/coffee. Breakfast was wonderful! It offered everything you could possibly need, and we super enjoyed the nice coffee machine for coffee options. The location was excellent for visiting Edinburgh for a couple of days. Taxi rides were not very expensive, and dinner was walkable. I would say the only frustrating thing about the rooms was the lack of any counter space or hooks for placing clothes and toiletries. In our room, instead of a huge sink basin, a small sink basin with surround counter would not have taken up more space but would have been helpful. Also, the last time we stayed, the décor involved cheery, fun pinks and greens with thistle images spread across the walls. I can see where maybe a change was desired, but we really did not prefer the Picasso-esque drawings of distorted naked people and even an orgy over the bed in one of the rooms. The décor was a change but not an improvement. It seems maybe Ibis is aiming for a different clientele than in previous years. But we would stay again in a heartbeat.”
“What an absolutely lovely couple. We felt welcome from the time that my husband and I walked into the Guest House. I celebrated my 50th birthday there and they made it even more special with a lovely bottle of champagne waiting for us in our room on our return from breakfast. I would thoroughly recommend their guest house, it is clean and modern and not far at all from the local amenities. There is a bus stop just to the right of the guest house and the buses are very regular. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Ted and Dot they helped make our time in Edinburgh even more special.”
“Top class hotel, they staff are really lovely people, its a credit to management. They were so good with our kids. Breakfast was excellent. Lovely cocktails. Location is really good, 3 min walk to haymarket to get all buses/trams and trains. We used 2 taxi in 4 days. Will definitely recommend again. If youre coming with kids please check out cupapug around corner. A cafe with pug dogs. We loved it”
“This was a fantastic hotel in a very great central location to the west end and the main highways. The service was exceptional from all staff, particularly Alexander, who made our visit special. The food, two breakfasts and a dinner, were amazing and the bar was quaint. The room amenities were above board, including drinks, snacks, cleanliness and service. We will definitely stay here again when we return. Five star all the way.”
“Friendliest Cosyiest in Auld Reekie - Edinburgh We recall with emotion the year 1965 when our Founder and Group Chairman Emeritus together with three Scottish friends got together in the very George Hotel in order to found our Catalyst ThinkTank. What was then a vision and mission of unattached independent liberal minds is today a success story throughout the world. The George Hotel is also amongst us welcoming and obliging more than ever particularly during these trying times for all. A vibrant Vote of Thanks indeed, to everyone ever so welcoming, courteous, supportive and always obliging to our members, colleagues and friends from all over the world when in Auld Reekie at the George. From breakfast to dinner all is destined to please and is excelling. Whenever we entertain friends, guests or colleagues the warm, friendly courteous and obliging members of staff nowadays are ever so wonderful. Bless your Hearts.! Very much Commended.”
“The Lodge Coffee House – A Caffeinated Trip into the Surreal Nestled in the caffeinated underbelly of Edinburgh lies The Lodge Coffee House, a stone sanctum where time sips itself backwards and espresso machines hum ancient jazz riffs. Upon entering, we were greeted by Mick, a man forged from equal parts kindness, bacon, and 80's nostalgia. Like a caffeinated Gandalf, he emerged from the steam with eyes full of welcome and hands full of bacon barms. He threw them at us, not aggressively, but like a benevolent goblin flinging gifts at chosen mortals. The coffee.... the coffee. Brewed by a barista who may have once been a shaman, the flat white shared secrets. The atmosphere, like being hugged by a velvet bear in a log cabin built by monks who understand everything. We had a chat with Mick about life, meat, and the nature of gravy. At one point, he levitated slightly while describing his sausage procurement strategy. The location is prime, trees bowed politely as we sipped. In short, The Lodge is not just a coffee house. It’s a mystical experience wrapped in cured meat and friendliness. Five out of five cosmic beans. Would definitely go again.”
“What a lovely Guest House. Our stay was great, as the rooms was lovely and gives you that home away from home feeling. It is good value for money and the personalised service provided by the owner is second to none. The breakfast is also lovely and great value for money. If you looking for a quiet place to stay, this is definitely worth a try.”
“Close to the centre, only 3 miles and a £13 cab ride will get you there. Nice clean rooms with a breakfast that sets you up for the day. The couple that run the guest house are friendly and approachable, what more could you want.”
“I had a fantastic stay at this hotel in North Queensferry. The room was amazing — spacious, clean, and incredibly comfortable, with a bed that made it hard to get up in the morning. The restaurant was another highlight; the food was truly top-notch and worth every bite. If you can, definitely choose a room with a view of the bridge. It’s absolutely stunning and adds something special to the whole experience. Parking is available, but finding a spot on the weekends can be a bit challenging, so it’s worth keeping that in mind. Aside from that, the staff and service were exactly what you’d expect from a hotel of this brand: professional, attentive, and consistently helpful. Overall, a wonderful stay in a beautiful location.”
“We stayed here for two weeks recently and had a great experience. The location is walkable to the train station and the shops and there are grocery stores nearby. The rooms are clean, well stocked and comfortable . The front desk staff, especially Katherine, are friendly and helpful. This location is approximately 30 min from the airport and a taxi is approximately 35 pound fare. Would definitely stay here again”
