“Brilliant accommodation in a quiet location with beautiful views of the Mourne Mountains. It's also very handy to Newcastle. I booked 5 cottages for a hen do, it's the perfect spot for a large group or extended family. The cottages were clean and Phil was friendly and helpful.”
“A beautiful house is a beautiful setting, we'd a view of the lovely gardens. Patricia and John were fabulous hosts and couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast was fabulous with homemade breads and jams. Will definitely be back.”
“Our P7’s had a fantastic residential trip. The activities were amazing, the staff and facilities were incredible. Thanks again - we will most definitely be back!”
“Myself and a group of friends spent the weekend mountain biking in the area and the Mourne was perfect for our needs. We went to the Newcastle for some food at night and Mairead made us breakfast the next day and it was great. This was the second time I stayed here and I will be back again.”

“We stayed here with x3 other family's in the main building. Couldn't fault it, it had everything we needed for a group getaway. There is a brilliant covered area for bbqs if it rains although thankfully we were blessed with beautiful weather. We were made to feel very welcome by the lovely friendly staff. Would definitely stay again!!”

“Had lunch and dinner here on the same day. Different staff from lunch to dinner, but both excellent. Food was great. We're going back again.”
“What a beautiful location, the Mountains right on your door step with easy access. We spent 6 nights at Meelmore Lodge. First off a big shout out to June and her staff! Lovely people, very accommodating friendly and helpful. The place was spotless, affordable for the pocket, especially in our current situation with Covid-19, it had everything you needed and nothing you didn’t, even the bunk beds where comfortable!! The rooms and shared spaces were warm and plenty of hot water for that all important shower. We all had a brilliant time and all ready one of our party has returned with their partner for a two night stay this week!! Now if ever a review was true this is that review. Well worth a stay.”
“We stayed a few weeks ago - 17 of us..the house is fantastic - in a great spot witb beautiful views. All rooms were brilliant and the host got straight back to us with any questions we had.. including booking us a bus to go to a restaurant in Newcastle. I would highly recommend the Brambles!”
“I've been to a lot of places in Newcastle but this is by far the nicest one I've stayed in. Everything about this place is excellent. So comfortable and quiet.”
“Very comfy and cosy cabin. The host had some bread, fruits, cereal on the table and water, yogurt, milk, etc... in the fridge. Located 1 minute drive from Newcastle main street. Really could have walked ... But the walk at the top of Slieve Donard had the better of us. The host is friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend”
“Absolutely fab perfect retreat for two days . Definitely going back .”
“What an amazing bed & breakfast - far better than any other b&b we've ever stayed in over the years. We were welcomed by John & Sarah as if we were old friends! They'd left tea bags, coffee, hot chocolate sachets with a kettle for us in our room together with freshly home made chocolate chip cookies and fresh milk and bottled water in our fridge. An absolutely beautiful house and garden with an extremely spacious family bedroom with a dressing room and spotless ensuite and WiFi. We also had a separate sitting room area on the landing outside our room with recliner sofas, a TV and a massive floor cushion - somewhere our family could enjoy a good game of Uno! We enjoyed beautiful views from our window over the fields towards the Mourne mountains. The breakfasts were amazing - tea, coffee, orange juice, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurts, toast and very tasty Ulster Fries! Both John and Sarah were so welcoming and friendly, as were their 2 family dogs. Creeghduff Lodge is in a fantastic rural setting between Newcastle and Downpatrick and a short drive to Strangford from where you can cross to Portaferry by a 10 minute car ferry crossing. We couldn't recommend Creeghduff Lodge highly enough and thank John & Sarah for absolutely everything they did for us during our stay.”
“Quiet location, Adelle the host was very personable- and the breakfast was probably the best I've ever had!!!”
“Very accommodating hosts. Nice place. Perfect place to stay when you wish to visit the beautiful scenery of the Mournes...”
“Modern and clean with great view. Friendly welcome”
“We have stayed in quite a few of the further space pods now so knew exactly what to expect 're the accommodation, perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids as they have bunk beds in a separate room for the children. Well equipped for a very comfortable stay. The location for these particular pods is stunning, peaceful and with lovely views. The site is clean and the hosts were really lovely. Lots of walks without having to drive anywhere. We'll be back to this site for sure.”
“Spotless place to stay, all very well organised and run. Automated check-in so doesn't matter what time you arrive, rooms are all modern and spotless with great heat. Shared kitchen and some rooms have shared bathroom. It's a 2 night minimum stay which would hinder me in the future but I would recommend. Book direct for best prices”
“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at White Gate Lodge. The place has bags of character and a lovely view of the Mournes. The patio and garden made a great place for a breakfast cuppa or an evening drink, and the lounge and bedrooms are cosy and comfortable. Philip was a very caring host - checking that we had settled in well and even sending my son's cuddly toy back through the post! Newcastle and Castlewellan are both nearby, providing good shopping and plenty of activity for the family.”
“The beautiful, nice, bright and clean room. Lovely bathroom and functional shower. The tasty breakfast. Richard and Collete are a great housekeepers, lovely and friendly couple. Definitely I recommend.”
“We stayed here for a night while hiking the Mourne Way and rested well in the clean and well appointed room. The host Helen was lovely and very helpful, and the location is closed by the Tollymore Forest Park”
“Myself and my husband have just returned from staying in Does Den, if you are looking for a place to completely get away from it all this is the perfect spot. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful and we were fortunate enough to spot a Fawn whilst we were relaxing outside our cabin. The cabin was beautiful, absolutely spotless and the most comfy bed I've slept in, it was so peaceful I had the best night's sleep I've had in ages. We also done the electric picnic and forest spa and I would highly recommend both, great experience cycling around the forest and the picnic we had afterwards in the gazebo was absolutely beautiful. The forest spa was so beautiful and secluded, the scenery was outstanding. The entire stay was so wonderful and we can't wait to go back. One of the absolute best parts of the stay was the service we received from Andy, an absolute gentleman who couldn't do enough for us, from setting up the hot tub so we could enjoy a relaxing soak to delivering the most beautiful breakfast the next morning. Nothing was too much trouble for him and everything was explained well to us. The whole experience was wonderful and I couldn't recommend it highly enough.”
“Such a great place for kids to meet teens from America !”
“A wonderful old style B&B with personal touches! It was a very special experience with our host Kiera. From the moment we arrived we found her waiting to assist us in getting our things and give us a tour of the room. She then took our custom breakfast order for the next day. We woke up the next day to a beautiful view of the countryside and a homemade breakfast. It does not get any better than this. Plus the wonderful conversations! It was LOVELY!!”
“It’s a five star experience from the moment Gareth welcomes you into he and Emma’s home at Mourne Country House. The location is superb affording beautiful views and the perfect place to explore the trails of the Mourne Mountains. The accomodation is spotless, beautifully decorated with comfy lounging areas and importantly comfortable beds. Emma cooks the best breakfasts using local produce and catered for my gluten free needs. Baby Faith is a delight! This is the best B&B experience we have had anywhere. Don’t hesitate to book!”
“We were a family of 15, we all had a great tome outside space was amazing”
