An ideal venue for getting away from Edinburgh, but close enough to "pop in". The calmness of the countryside gives you a nice warm hug. Susan and Chris are very welcoming hosts, and you only have to ask and they will act on it.
We had a wonderful time. The accommodation was beautiful, it had everything that we needed for our family of four. It was a comfortable base to explore Edinburgh and surrounding region.
Perfect getaway place very close to Edinburgh. Nature walks in proximity, big spacious room. Would come back again!

A really lovely stay at a quirky, cozy little place. We stayed here for 3 nights as were attending a wedding nearby and found it a little holiday in itself. Susan was very accommodating leaving a travel cot out for us and being readily available for any queries. The place was clean and comfortable with great amenities. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful accommodation just outside Edinburgh. Lovely decor and very well equipped. You can walk out the door and be walking in the Pentlands within minutes, returning later in the day to the welcoming log burner. Not far from the city of Edinburgh, the Hayloft is the perfect place for a relaxing break. The hosts, Chris and Susan could not have been more helpful and the eggs supplied from their hens were delicious. I would thoroughly recommend a stay here.
What an incredible find. Spacious, comfortable, well appointed, easy drive into Edinburgh, tastefully decorated and the exposed stone walls and wooden beams are fabulous. Will definitely be booking here again next time we come over to Edinburgh. Very highly recommended!
One word: wow. I had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Hayloft Edinburgh (for essential purposes amidst the COVID-19 pandemic) and I was simply blown away. Where to begin? The Hayloft itself is the perfect combination of modern and homey. Stunning details, thoughtfully curated interior, and extremely comfortable beds made this stay all the more special. Even the bathroom tiles were amazing- encompassing the colors of the Pentland Hills. The Hayloft is completely equipped with a full kitchen, two bathrooms, a master bedroom, a bedroom with two single beds, fast wifi, TV, and even fresh eggs from the free roaming chickens! The best part, even in a very cold spell Edinburgh was having the Hayloft remained warm and cozy :) This review would not be sufficient without mentioning my lovely hosts: Chris, Susan, and their son Finlay. While we were only able to chat socially distanced outside, it was so nice to have met them. They were accommodating, kind, and all around friendly people. Even their wee cat was great! Balerno itself is a beautiful area with fabulous walks around the Pentland hills. No need to drive anywhere, the walks are available right from your doorstep! Everyday myself and my partner woke up to a gorgeous view of snow coated hills. In fact, my partner even had the chance to take the rare opportunity to go skiing- he said it was better than a ski holiday! While the pandemic has been difficult being an essential worker, my stay at the Hayloft Edinburgh was an absolute silver lining. I know for a fact we will be back :) Thank you again Chris, Susan, and Finlay.
