   We had a getaway to chester and stayed at Doubletree in Hoole. We were looking for a close nice pub to have dinner, i found the Piper and it is such a lovely pub! Great food, friendly people, can tell it is a great pub by how many people use it. Highly reccommend

   Tried the Christmas menu, as a gluten free person it was fantastic - Yorkshire pudding and stuffing alone is a godsend as we don’t normally get it! The dessert - fantastic and again it was gluten free! It all had taste if you are gluten free you know what I mean

   We stopped by this pub on a whim after facing a long wait at Toby Carvery—and we’re so glad we did! What started as a backup plan turned into a brilliant surprise. The food was absolutely spot on: full of flavour, perfectly cooked, and clearly made with care. The service was just as impressive—friendly, attentive, and more than happy to accommodate custom tweaks to our orders without hesitation. It’s rare to find a place that nails both the food and the hospitality, but this one truly delivered. Top marks from us. We’ll definitely be back—and next time, it’ll be our first choice!

   Absolutely shocking, worst restaurant I’ve ever been to, I finished my food before my drink came as they had to go to the shop and get me a Diet Coke. Had a beef roast and it was terrible, the roast potatoes had just come out of Iceland. Waitress had no clue what she was doing, £31 for 2 tiny roasts, watery gravy and 2 Diet Cokes

   Very warm welcome. Clean and tidy venue, but with slightly dinged decor. Quirky hand written menus, with a decent choice of classic pub grub. Food was served at a good pace, came piping hot and tasted great.
