Had a lovely visit to Toby Carvery on Friday the 12th. The food was great as always, but the service really stood out. Alfie, Gav and Kelsey were all brilliant β friendly, attentive and made sure everything was just right throughout our visit. They created such a welcoming atmosphere and really added to the experience. Big thanks to them all for making it an enjoyable meal. Weβll definitely be back!

I went for a carvery here and Jessica was my waiter and she was the most politest and kindest person ever, made sure we was okay and made sure we had everything we needed. Had the purest of hearts Iβd like to thank her for our exceptional experience Jessica welcomed us and her service was amazing. She made sure everything was okay. I will definitely come back

If you look at the photos you can see that I was served what can only be described as a plate full of gristle and fat. All the vegetables were spoiled and dry, the "chef" was out the back having a look through his phone which I could see through the kitchen.Servery door window. When I opened the door and shouted for someone to please serve me. I got no response and there was already a mother and her young daughter waiting at the servery queue, while no one was there as they were too busy looking on their phone; and being paid for such. This was an atrocious visit to a British favourite, which is in decline, and will soon be a dying breed If people don't ensure that quality british fayre is produced consistently.

Iβve visited Toby Carvery Waterside with my partner on a Sunday and on a few other occasions, and my feelings are mixed. The staff are the highlight of this place. Theyβre always friendly, helpful and genuinely warm, which is why two of the three stars are purely for them. Customer service is brilliant, the drinks are good, and the atmosphere inside is lovely. The food, unfortunately, hasnβt matched the rest of the experience. On our visits, the peas were burnt and several items from the carvery were cold and didnβt taste fresh. Itβs disappointing because the food should be the main attraction, but it simply hasnβt been consistent. Another thing worth mentioning is the dog-friendly setup. We were told the restaurant is dog friendly, but we couldnβt walk through a certain section of the bar to reach the outside seating. Instead, we had to walk all the way around outside the building just to get to the area where dogs are allowed. It made things a bit confusing, especially when youβre just trying to sit outside comfortably. Overall, great staff and atmosphere, but the food and layout need some attention for this place to really shine.

Kelsea served us on this day upon it reopening on 16/08/2025 and was really polite and made it such a great experience. Also words cannot explain how much the pub looks now after the refurbishment. It's a beautiful pub and was well deserved. Thank you Toby Carvery Waterside

My past experiences at Waterside have been mixed; sometimes good, sometimes very bad. I'm happy to say that yesterdays visit was the best so far, but still not perfect. The lady dressed all in black who served us was just outstanding despite being the only person on the restaurant floor at the time. She was warm and sincerely welcoming, very helpful when answering some questions we had, thoughtfully asked if we had allergies, and frequently checked in on us to make sure everything was fine throughout our time there. The food was delicious, and the view of the water was beautiful - as it always is. There was one very unpleasant moment when we went to get our carvery meal; we were waiting several minutes to be served at the counter and were rudely shouted at for helping ourselves to a Yorkshire Pudding by an angry lady who appeared to be a staff member not dressed in black. Also, the first few plates we took were not clean. Thankfully the chef who eventually appeared to serve our meat he was also warm and welcoming. I would rate my experience as 10/10 if we had not been shouted at, and no customer should ever be spoken to like that. Big thanks to the lovely waitress dressed in black for her hospitality, she was brilliant.

I've visited numerous Toby Cs around the North West at breakfast time. I have to say this Toby C is by far the best I've visited, and I've eaten at many! Kim is a great host. Genuinely friendly, positive and welcoming. After speaking to her, it's clear she's a good, kind hearted lady as well. The restaurant is well kept, clean, tidy, and the food is definitely the best I've eaten, (well cooked, it's presentation and availability, no empty dishes, not even the eggs!). Hats off to the Chef(s). It's evident you are very competent people and you care about your customers. I've never had a disappointing visit regarding breakfast (the only time I've visited). I will certainly return, without question. Even with the price increase (post novid) it's still good value, esp if you're a fat lad like me. I recommend a visit.

Today service was great. happy friendly and in a timely unobtrusive manner. I believe the server's name was Carl. Carvery was really nice and well laid out. Dripping roast potatoes and extra turkey skin, yummy. Today was a Monday so the place was rather quiet usually there is some music playing but I didn't hear it today. Parking great.
