    Not been to Handyman for a while. Another great night. Warm, friendly , lovely tribute to Mamadou . Well organised. Respectful. Great musicians, wide range of music styles covered. Superb bassist from Senegal. Didnt catch his name. Love Martin Smiths trumpet work whoever he is playing with. Could have done with s bigger dancefloor last night. Pleasant and helpful staff.

    Handyman pale ale is one of the best pale ales I've tasted, and believe me, I've tasted quite a few.

    The Handyman feels like a place I should love. Brew their own ales, have a great selection of guest ales both on tap and bottles but there's something not quite right. It doesn't have any kind of atmosphere. The front bar has a few long tables and chairs but there's nothing comfortable about the place. The front windows open in summer which probably would make it more pleasant. The back room is completely soulless, school cafeteria vibes. It's also pretty dingy. Not sure if it's because of the brewing but it's also got a unpleasant aroma most of the time. Great beer but not surroundings I enjoy.

    Big screen in the back for sport and loads of benches to sit on. In the front there’s a log fire to keep you warm while you enjoy the great beers they have on tap and even more choice from the fridges. Always a good atmosphere with friendly staff. They don’t serve food but you’re welcome to bring take out from local places
