I took my car for an MOT on 20th December and was told it failed due to a rear shock absorber oil leak and a tyre pressure sensor. This was surprising. I was told that if I had the repairs done elsewhere, the MOT re-test would be free within 10 days, as they didnβt have the part. Due to Christmas, I had the work done at another garage ( the garage that replaced the shock absorber told me that, in their opinion, the issue was not serious enough for the car to fail the MOT in the first place. ) and returned on 27th December as instructed. However, I was then charged Β£27.50 for the re-test and told it would only be free if they had done the repairs themselves. Being told one thing and then charged anyway is very disappointing. Iβm not happy with the service or the unnecessary hassle caused.

Honestly would not bother using this place. They expect you to have no knowledge and try to upsell things that are not required. They think they can get away with it because they hide behind the trusted name of Halfords. Go to your little guy at least he won't try and fleece you. They tried to tell me I needed new spark plugs. Which are iridium and good for at least 80k to 100k miles. I am on 65k miles and only do 6k a year. They also tried to tell me my battery needed replacing. It has never let me down. But they also wanted Β£240 for a new battery with fitting . They are around Β£60-Β£80 on europart. So what were they gunna use to fit it? Solid gold spanners! Bunch of chancers... I will never use them again! Another British high street name that is destined for the scrap head!

Not great so far. Took the van in to try and find the cause of a rattling noise, the mechanics could not see anything wrong, but did not charge us and recommended we take it to a different Halfords with facilities to deal with larger vehicles. We appreciated that they had tried and did not charge us. On taking it to a local mechanic, it turned out the rattling noise was from a loose shock absorber and a damaged bolt. It is very surprising to me that they did not identify something so simple, especially since they claimed to have checked the suspension. Next we booked an air con diagnostic for the car, they called to say there was a leak in either the cylinder or the condenser, and that there might be something wrong with the other one too (can't remember which way round it was). Halfords claim that they provide reports of what was wrong, suggested fixes etc. When they emailed us the records, it did not include any such information. So basically we paid Β£35 for them to tell us there is "something" wrong with the air-con (which we could have told ourselves for free), and to go to a specialist. We had hoped the diagnostic would tell us what the specific problem was so that we could get quotes for parts and labour from other people. I would not recommend the air con diagnostic service. We were going to use them for an MOT as it is convenient to book in, but doubt we will now.

I went to Halfords to get a gas refill for my carβs air conditioning. They recommended that I pay extra for a leak diagnostic, so I agreed and paid for it. A few days later, the air conditioning stopped working completely. I went back to them, and they told me to leave the car so they could investigate. I live nearby, I passed by several times to check if they were actually working on the car, and it was clear they didnβt even move it from the spot I left it in the morning. Later, they called me to say they couldnβt repair or refill the air conditioning, claiming they are βnot air conditioning specialists.β When I told them I had seen the car sitting there untouched, I could see the fear on their faces. I also asked them why they charged me for a leak diagnostic when the result they gave me said there was βno leak.β This is completely unacceptable. They took my money, wasted my time, and did absolutely nothing to solve the problem. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Very bad experience with this garage.

Good and friendly staff, but need to feed back to customers about the vehicles and why would take 9 hours to wait for MOT FULL SERVICE AND FITTING OF FOUR NEW BRAKE PADS. Booked in at 8am, picked up my vehicle at 6.10pm. I Feel this let Halfords down in my view.

Booked my car in for an MOT. Very polite, attentive staff who took my keys early so I could wonder round the shops whilst it was done. Sorted on my return. Thank you so much

My MOT was running out and the team fitted me in really quickly to my relief and offered my some further advice on services etc .. which I booked for the week after. Would 100% recommend !!
