Decent escape room for beginners. A lot of help offered. Smaller rooms than what im used to but the puzzles where still good.

We visited Clue HQ Birmingham – The Live Escape Game on 12th September 2025 for a team activity, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! We played the Captain Riddles escape room, which was brilliantly designed — challenging, engaging, and a lot of fun. A huge shout-out to our host, Amelia, who was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout the session. She made sure our team felt comfortable and guided us with just the right amount of support, which really enhanced the whole experience. The game itself encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity, making it a perfect choice for team building. Overall, we had a wonderful time and came away with lots of laughs and great memories. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a fun and well-organized escape room in Birmingham!

We had a great time and would highly recommend. There are several different rooms to choose from and we will be returning to complete the others. We found the challenge difficult but the staff can assist you where needed via a message system. These hints can be tailored to keep you engaged and remain fun at the same time. The only down side is some of the features are showing some signs a wear which did slightly impact the experience.

Captain riddles forgotten fortune was great fun, Jake was super friendly and helped us out a bunch. 2 person grouped just about cleared in under an hour, medium difficulty rating was spot on.

Clue HQ Birmingham used to have the best escape rooms in town. Phenomenal puzzles, challenging and with top immersive components. Unfortunately, not anymore. The escape rooms now have been scrapped to the bare minimum to raise the percentage of escapes, targeting a younger, more inexperienced audience. We did the Captain Riddle, that used to be a race to sail a boat to a cursed island, to get into a cave that had a real waterfall. And when you completed the room, four treasure chests hanging from the top of the waterfall opened, letting drop tons of coins like a real treasure. Real, old coins. You then had one minute to take as much gold as you could back to the ship. Your score was not only the time taken to complete the room, but also the weight of the treasure taken. However, today that cave doesn't exist anymore. The lack of care of the room, according to the host, caused the wood under the waterfall to rot. So unfortunately the room was cut short, and the ending doesn't even make sense. We didn't even realised that we had finished. It is such a shame that this place, that used to be higher tier, has gone so low only because of lack of care for their rooms. Also, they used to have a great board game cafe on the entrance, that has also closed.

Recently went here for a friends birthday where we completed the Hellevator Escape Game. It was a lot of fun! It was definitely one of the more linear games we've played, but it was challenging and the craftsmanship of the room was very impressive. We did it with a group of 7 but i'd definitely say its best with a group of 3-4. The venue in general is great. I've been a few times in the past as well and the games have always been brilliant. It's also in an easy part of Birmingham to drive to, with plenty of parking within walking distance. I 100% recommend this place.

I absolutely loved our team building escape room at Clue HQ yesterday. We did the Myalock room, which was really interactive, with lots of cool surprises. Luke was a fantastic game master, nudging us along as needed and making some jokes on the screen from time to time. Very proud to say we escaped with more than 4 minutes to spare!

Fantastic escape room venue. Our 5th visit - this time we did The Legend of Miyalock and loved it. Perfect balance of physical challenges and riddles to keep our family group (adults and teens) busy for almost the whole hour. Our games master was brilliant, giving us occasional nudges in the right direction, so we never stalled, but not too many or too soon so we still felt like we deserved the win :). I would recommend this venue (and Owen) 100%!

Second time we have been as a family. Managed to complete this time elevating us from bumpkin to idiot level. The location is great- damp railway arches which genuinely make it better. We were hosted by Owen this time who was a bit of a hoot. Overall a good way to spend an hour and find out how dim one can be. We will be back for more.

Was booked to do Hellevator with my family for my birthday. It was my first time doing an escape room. Parked nearby the train station (which is also right next to the venue) and walked over. Greeted by a very friend chap who told us where to wait and where the toilets were. Then our event coordinator Sophie, who was also very friendly, explained how the escape room worked and made sure we understood before sending us in. We put our belongings in a locker and off we go. At first we got stuck on how to start but Sophie was able to give us a small hint on the TV screen inside. We managed to beat the room with only 2 minutes to spare. Was very exciting and intense. We have already booked to go back, as they have an offer when you are there. 100% recommend.
