   After experiencing some other whiskey shops in the uk, one horrible experience at a tourist trap in Edinburgh made me appreciate the staff at this York establishment. Several staff were incredibly knowledgeable, especially about the local options, and honestly didn’t look at the prices since the experience and conversation were great. I would assume they were a little over priced to what you can get online but to be able to see all the selection and taste a few was well worth any markup.

   Excellent experience with the salespersons. They listened to what I was looking for, they made additional suggestions, they provided several samples to try and I didn't feel judged when I conveyed how I felt about the samples. I found the choice to be small but well curated. Not the place where I'd go for special releases or a bottle that I cannot find elsewhere, but I place where I go pick up a gift (for others or myself!) and know that it'll be alright.

   Staff were really helpful and friendly, we asked about the whiskey club & they talked about how to be a part of it and whats good about it, and was persuaded into joining, while also getting a premium looking whiskey case with some lovely bottles included. Plenty of different types to choose from ranging from low to high in price. Always worth popping in!

   Really fantastic guidance and tasting from the team at The Whisky Shop - York. I visited as an amateur in Whisky but with a newfound taste for Smoky-Peaty Islay blends having only recently tried Talisker 10. I was welcomed and talked through many options with generous samples of each. The Chap who looked after me clearly understood my tastes and I was extremely happy to walk away with a bottle of Balvenie 'The Week of Peat' Story #2 which I'm thoroughly enjoying. All thanks to the super service. I'll see you next year, and thanks!
