“I went to screwfix as an ignoramus. I measured everything, had taken photos and had some idea what I wanted. The guys at Screwfix, Monks Cross were superb! They didn't treat me like an eejit, they were very respectful, knowledgeable and honestly, could not have done any more for me. They showed endless patience and solved all bar one of my problems. The one unsolved problem, they gave me suggestions on where to go for the part I need. I was really worried about going into a place like this, knowing what I wanted but not knowing how to ask for it and looking a complete idiot. I won't have those worries again, thanks to the guys at Monks Cross Screwfix, one of which was Tom, didn't get the other guy's name, but he had a grey beard. I will from now on, continue to go to Screw fix every time I need some, safe in the knowledge I am likely to get exactly what I need, with expert advice, all at a reasonable price. Not only this, but he was extremely knowledgeable about ski boots, the correct fits, and even the sport itself. “We cannot recommend this B&B enough. Simon's porridge and full English breakfasts were wonderful, with homemade bread readily available. Our room room was clean and beyond comfortable. To name a few amenities, there were heated towel racks, robes, and locally-made, excellent mattresses. Both host and hostess went above and beyond to help us navigate a few unexpected circumstances by connecting us with local resources. We will be returning if we can!!!”

“Got a flat and needed a replacement at the roadside. Rang and was told they'd be there within and hour to replace the tyre. About 30 minutes they were there and I was on my way about 15 minutes after. Would definitely recommend, fast response and good price!”

“Excellent, very knowledgeable staff, who advised me on the issues with my vehicle after the diagnostic check for the engine light. Whilst I was waiting in reception I was quite shocked to hear that they were advising a women on the condition of her car and that is wasn't road worthy and she decided to drive it away. Once she left the chap looked at me and said "what more can I do"? I felt very reassured that the staff and this business genuinely care for their customers as the concern on the chaps face, said it all. Pleased to say I paid for the diagnosis and repair as they did it while I waited. Car is now running perfectly and I will go back when I need other things doing. This family ran garage is run by genuine people, who car for your safety and your car.”

“Visited here beginning of June with my sisters, no need to book. We had the most brilliant experience. Really relaxing atmosphere, all age groups and different size groups. The staff are really friendly and explain the different painting techniques well. Will definitely visit again.”

“We have recently had a new log burner installed in our snug, replacing an old, useless gas fire. We worked with Becky in the York showroom and the install team were Tom and Matty. They were all professional and knowledgeable and we were pleased to have Tom and Matty in the house! It was a tricky job but it was carried out to a high standard and we are delighted with the result. The room has been transformed. Would happily recommend.”

“I met with the lovely Ellie about 6 weeks ago sat down with her and told her about my family holiday I wanted to book for 2026 ! She took down all my preferences , all inclusive daytime flights destinations etc , I left her to do the work for me and come back with suggestions ! She duly came back listened to what I said about them then fine tuned until she rang me and said I’ve found it!! I rushed in and booked straight away ! “This is a tiny cafe above a bookshop. Both are queer spaces, full of flags, acceptance and super friendly staff. I can highly recommend the bi passionfruit cake. The cafe is a meeting place for young people who identify as LGBTQ+, so if you have an issue with them you're not at all welcome here. This cafe is absolutely perfect for students but, to reiterate, it is very small!”

“Went to the Puma York outlet in August. They had plenty of deals on and some good stock in, as well as a good deal (£30 off £100 spend). We had a bit of trouble on one item not being recognised for its labelled price but the staff and especially manager Kurtis were brilliant in helping us. Would highly recommend a visit”
