nice local cafe located on ground floor of st Nicholas centre, the food was enjoyable, I had a pistachio creme cake and it was one of the nicest cakes I've ever tasted (desserts get 5/5 rating), the atmosphere could be better, but they don't do bad for a cafe based in the middle of a retail shopping centre.

Cost £21. Served on paper plates & plastic knife and fork. Salad accompanied the toastie was inedible. Coffee brought to us in paper cups. Sent that back for proper crockery. Two staff ridiculed an elderly customer in my presence and hearing. Honestly playing at shoppers. Time of visit 16:10 -16:30 hrs Saturday 15.03.25. We spoke to staff present. Overall cleanliness is very poor.staff were rude and swore at my wife. They refused to give their names.

The food was overall decent, but it lacked good combinations to make the dining experience more enjoyable. The taste didn’t quite meet my expectations, and there weren’t many varieties to choose from. On the positive side, the environment was calm and pleasant, which made the visit more relaxing. If they can improve on the variety and flavor, it could be much better.

The staff was dishonest. They delivered less than my actual order. When I asked for follow up, they denied they had missed any. They framed us for asking for extra dish. Come on. They could see how many plates on the table. Ridiculous place. Rude and dishonest staff. Cheating. Bad food quality. Confusing menu too. Never ever try it. P.S. They deleted my first review? I could not see it anymore so I gave my review here again.

Very bad customer service. Food is even worse. Staff look miserable and un polite. A manager is very rude( no smiles, no thanks) , looks at customer as an enemy. I would not give even 1 star. Very disappointed

Reasonably priced, staff are not the friendliest. Waitresses go around and clear tables but never wipe them down. Management should be telling them to do this - we walked in and scrambled for the cleanest dirty table! Food order was incorrect and no serviettes brought down with cutlery, overall a bleak experience.

A horrid experience! I'm back in Sutton on holiday from Australia. I thought I would pop back into the cafe I thoroughly enjoyed 10 years ago. What an absolute dive it has become. Staff look absolutely miserable and were dismissive and rude. The food was expensive for what it was. The teapot hadn't been cleaned properly. Just a really bad experience overall. Disappointed.

Been going to Esquires since November 2021 and since last May it has become one of my regular places to sit, eat and enjoy coffee with my daughter. I always go there if meeting friends also. The staff have always been friendly towards us as if they didn't I wouldn't keep going there. No complaints from friends of mine who also visited there. It is a place where I can go, feel relaxed and I understand the pressure they get when in their busy times. They do not have much time to communicate and get tired/stressed easily especially due to lack of staff at the moment.
