The food quality ha gone down. We went as a group of 4 for breakfast I was over chargers by £6 . Not good for business
I have ordered from this place twice. The first time, I ordered over the phone and some of the items I paid for were missing. A couple of days later, I ordered an egg panini and specifically asked for ketchup on it. I even confirmed at pickup that it was a takeaway order and asked again about the ketchup. The person who took my payment assured me that ketchup had been added, but it was not. This will be my last time coming to this place.

The purpose of our visit was to buy some baklava, and it wasn’t initially our intention to dine at this place. In fact, we weren’t even aware of its existence until we stumbled upon it. Fortunately, I managed to have something to eat for breakfast, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Let me begin with the structure of the place. It’s quite large but feels somewhat unbalanced in its layout. The space doesn’t seem to have been properly optimized or fixed. The shop is divided into two distinct seating areas—one at the front and another at the back. The back area appears to have been converted from what might have originally been a kitchen or storage area. At the front, there’s a bar-like counter where drinks are served, with the kitchen located right behind it. Despite the abundance of seating areas, the toilet facilities haven’t benefited from the available space. There is only one small restroom shared by both males and females. At least, that’s all I could see, unless there were more hidden at the very back, which I didn’t notice. Overall, while the shop’s structure shows promise, it feels unbalanced and slightly underwhelming. That said, there are some interesting design elements that caught my attention. The mirrors and small wall ornaments scattered around give the place an authentic and intriguing vibe. They also have a couple of outdoor tables for smokers or anyone who prefers to sit outside, which is a thoughtful touch. We browsed the menu to see what they had to offer, and it was surprisingly extensive. We decided to order three dishes: one Turkish breakfast, a cheese omelette with chips, and Turkish tea. The Turkish breakfast came with a variety of items, but I found it to be a bit of a conundrum. It was too much food for one person, yet not quite enough for two people to share. Additionally, it was slightly overpriced for what it offered. However, the cheese omelette was an entirely different story. It was an exceptional deal for the price and quality. The omelette was cooked to perfection—thoroughly cooked but neither overdone nor underdone. It was, quite honestly, one of the best omelettes I’ve ever had. I’m not sure if I got lucky or if this is their standard, but it was a highlight of my meal. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention one tiny issue—a small piece of eggshell ended up in my bite. While it was a minor inconvenience, it didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the perfectly prepared omelette. We were served two small glasses of Turkish tea, which came in traditional tea glasses. While this is customary, I would have preferred the tea to be served in a pot. After all, it only takes a little extra hot water to make the experience more satisfying. The small glasses weren’t quite enough, so we ended up ordering two large glasses of tea as well. Despite this minor hiccup, we were happy with our breakfast overall. I must also point out a very small but important issue with the mayonnaise and ketchup. While the containers display a popular brand, the contents clearly taste different and are nothing like the branded product. It seems likely that they refill these containers with cheaper, unbranded bulk products. This is not fair to the famous brand whose reputation is being misused, nor to the customers who might trust the branding and expect a certain quality. I feel this practice is misleading and not a route they should follow. This dining experience was a delightful bonus overall to our primary purpose for visiting—buying baklava. The place is conveniently located right next to the bakery, making it an easy stop to enjoy a meal. While there are areas that could be improved, such as the layout and restroom facilities, the quality of the food—especially the omelette—made the visit worthwhile. This hidden gem offers both convenience and quality, and I’m glad we stumbled upon it. It’s a spot I’d consider returning to if I’m in the area again, and perhaps next time, I’ll have the chance to try more from their menu.
Popped into Star Cafe for a quick coffee yesterday and was met with friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. Came again this morning for Breakfast. Went for the super breakfast, freshly squeezed orange juice and a caramel latte. The breakfast was big enough for me not to be able to finish, though the chips were an odd addition to me (as a Yorkshireman). The freshly squeezed orange was a delight, literally watched it being freshly squeezed from the fruit, which really makes the price worth it. Service was friendly and attentive, but not overly bothersome.
Wonderful place to go, absolutely loved it. The food was picture perfect as well as being absolutely delicious. The menu is alot so choice is not restricted, although due to it being such a variety it will be different variations of dishes. The place it self is not crazy busy, there is a section at the back which is more quite then the front. BOOKSHELF, not alot of places have things to do while waiting. My daughter grabbed a book and we were reading together, staff even offered her different books that were not on display. Great place highly recommended to any visitors to Ponder End.
Had not been for a while. But manager remembered me. The chicken was moist and flavoured lovely, not too much garlic. Very colourful salad and just enough rice. Will go back again.
Great menu choices. Fast efficient, friendly and welcoming service. Love the set 4 and the Turkish breakfasts. My favourite cafe.

Nice decor from what it used to be, and friendly staff. Price range to portion comparison, is a bit steep for what you are getting. Everything tasted good, however I feel the egg needs to be firmer as it broke into tiny pieces when trying to cut it and not a fan of the flavour of this particular chicken sausage.
