Busy but worthwhile, it's aimed at the workers not tourists but if you want a seafood breakfast then this is the place! If you want something specific call the first. Their opening hours is very early so check first!

The scallops and bacon sandwich lives up to the hype. Excellent place run by people who obviously care about customers leaving happier than they went in; can't be beat.

I visited the market today with my son and decided to eat at Billingsgate CafΓ©, thinking we’d be served fresh seafood straight from the market. We ordered one sea bass with chips for Β£15, expecting quality. Unfortunately, both the fish and the chips were clearly frozen and tasted like they came straight from a supermarket, not from one of the UK’s most well-known fish markets. It felt misleading to be served frozen food in a place famous for fresh fish. A big letdown β€” I expected much better. I won’t be returning.

Had a bacon and scallop roll, it was absolutely delicious. The bacon was crispy, the scallops flavourful and the roll was so fresh. Nice cup of coffee too!

Highly recommend Scallop Bacon Roll! The scallop was so flavourful and juicy, the bacon is a bit salty, the buns were nicely chewy, best breakfast bun I’ve had! I wasn’t so keen on the haddock breakfast, I was expecting fresh fish but instead the haddock was very salty and tasted like preserved fish - get the half haddock if you just wanted to try, it is quite a decent portion, and impressed by the perfectly done eggs on top of the haddock, all breakfast come with tea/coffee. We went to the cafe around 4:40am, it wasn’t busy and people started trickling in from then on and was packed when I was eating. In terms of service, we were rushed to order and didn’t have enough time to look through the menu, ended up making two separate orders.

This is the go to breakfast place when you finish the early shopping for fish and seafood at Billingsgate. One of a dying bread of the great British " greasy spoons". Oh and you can actually get a scallop or shrimp breakfast! How about that!

Billingsgate Cafe, is a classic! With their rich heritage, they have been there since the place billingsgate market was open, fresh fresh from the sellers to the grill, prices are quite decent, no restaurant can match those low prices as they get the fish for such a low price they are able to sell it a low price. All the fishermen, buyers, sellers you see them eat there, it’s a bit smelly as it is inside the fish market but the food is worth it all!

After doing our shopping at the market we had breakfast at the cafΓ©. We had the bacon and scallops bun. It comes with tea or coffee and for Β£6 it's quite good value. The bun was super soft and the scallops were covered in delicious butter

We have read recommendations about the scallop breakfast so we had to try it. Definitely did not disappointment. It was quite filling, the garlicky buttery taste of the scallops laid on top of a shell was delicious. Β£12 for this to include coffee is very reasonable in my humble opinion. We also had the scallops bacon roll and for Β£6 with coffee is worth it. Charming cafe with historic photos on the wall. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would say the same thing ... don't miss having a relaxing breakfast here when visiting the fish market.

Just honest hearty food with large portions. However I have some minor criticism. I tried the haddock (Β£14) which was quite salty, and it was smoked. The seabass (Β£12) tasted like it was cooked from frozen. I expected the fishes to be cooked from fresh as the cafe is in the fish market! If they served fresh grilled fish it would have been perfect.
