My club card is 6337809021810207277658 I am a regular customer at Costa and genuinely enjoy the coffee from this store. However, I recently experienced a very strange and upsetting incident. I work as a London bus driver and have very limited time to order coffee and grab a quick bite before moving on. I place orders at least three times a day from different branches. On one occasion, I went to the Costa store inside Tesco and ordered my coffee. I then sat down to eat a sandwich I had brought from outside the store. A staff member approached me and rudely asked me to stop eating because outside food was not allowed. I complied immediately, apologized, and said I respected the store’s policy. However, what happened next left me with only one explanation: the staff member was acting with a degree of racial bias. I noticed several other customers eating outside food, yet she did not say anything to them. I asked her directly why she insisted I respect the policy when others were doing the same without issue. She refused to talk to me. I started recording the situation on my phone, but security was called to stop me. Security and the manager understood my side and apologized to me. Yet, the very next day, the manager informed me that they had decided to refuse me service at that store. I was shocked and confused by this decision. Now, a year after this incident, I tried to order coffee from that branch again, only to find that I am still banned from receiving service. It seems there is no proper oversight of these employees, and the management lacks professionalism. I am very disappointed with the staff who have degraded the quality of service to satisfy their own biases. I do not understand how long this ban will last or on what grounds it continues. This treatment is unacceptable and unfair.

Truly awful. I’ve attempted to use the cafe for lunch options a few times now as I often work in the Ponders End area. The selection of food isn’t great and having tasted their offerings I just won’t be bothering again. The sandwich was stale - I got a toasted (cheese and roasted tomato) sandwich but you can tell when stale bread has been toasted… and not a single roasted tomato in sight… just a thin smear of paste that tastes like ketchup with barely any cheese. There was more cheese on top which was hard… that couple with the thick dry crusts made it quite hard to swallow. Absolutely nothing special about the iced latte apart from the exorbitant price. Costa is the only high street brand in Ponders End High St but it’s competing against the small businesses who are able to provide homemade sandwiches and hot food like gozleme for under the £9 this cost me. The staff aren’t particularly fast working or welcoming but must be a depressing place to work to be honest, and the din coming from the sound of shoppers chatting, Tesco tills beeping and announcements meant I could hardly hear myself think. The view is of the resident homeless beggars outside which I think just makes you feel even more guilty about spending sooo much on overpriced ‘let’s not call it food’ when you could be donating to the poor. And let’s not forget Tesco has its own section of takeaway sandwiches which, although not that enticing either, they are a step up from Costa’s offerings. They have a real opportunity here to make the cafe into something decent as could easily build up some walls for sound proofing, improve the food and decor. It wouldn’t take much - and there used to be a good Tesco cafe on the A406 Tesco that felt like it was a good affordable, option that was more closed in and not so open to the whole supermarket. Only a couple of sets of comfy low level chairs which I always look for when not dining formally. This Tesco is ear marked for development so probably won’t be around for much longer …. So it seems like they are just trying to run it into the ground before closing.

I wanted a nice drink to wake me up and hot water to have some noodles for lunch. The lady basically did her best to waste my time by making me wait about 10 minutes for the payment and when I told her I had a costa account, I waited another 5 minutes. She then told me she would allow me to have hot water this one time like I should feel grateful for something so basic. I was willing to pay for it too … and I was told I’m not allowed to eat it in the sitting/dining area with no reason whatsoever. I wanted to sit and work on my laptop while drinking but I was definitely not welcome. The attitude and the service was unnecessary and I will definitely not go back. Very disappointed in costa.

The attitude from the 2 baristas that was on was disgusting, They were rude and treated you like dirt, I’ve never been so rudely spoken Trying to rush so that she could spend the rest of there shifts on phone That’s terrible customer service she should even be in the job

I go to Costa Coffee (inside Tesco) most weekends during my food shopping trips. The Barista got my order wrong for the SECOND time in the space of a week! I order the same drink each time with marshmallows and cream and the same lady keeps getting it wrong. Each time I asked her to correct it she argues back with me even though I ordered very bluntly and made my order clear. I ended up leaving very unhappy and my drink was spilling out of the cup. The lady was quite happy to shove tissue over my cup to stop the overflow, very unhelpful. Could not drink my drink until I got home as it would of spilt all over me. Quite angry at the poor customer service. I will no longer be going to this Costa Coffee as they never seem to listen to your orders.
