Fabulous local countryside pub. Cosy fireside seating area. Plenty of ales to savior. Staff and service are excellent. Massive outside garden with valley views. Good stop off place during Chess Valley walks.
This village pub which overlooks a valley and is on the paths of walking groups in the valley, (just an fyi, not my experience but met a couple of walking folks and felt their vibe!) Was welcome warm and under new management of someone who really gets what it takes to run a village pub it seems! Come thru the door to a fire and warmth, nice assortment of bevies which warm ya insides, and a lovely gentle buzz. Had a meal including extremely tasty pie which hit the spot on a 2 degree day! Never rushed wonderful service, cozy. I could easily base a walk from this pub when it gets warmer. Gosh the people of this village have such a wonderful couple pubs and we’re super fun to chat with. I also previously visited - The Boot and that one had a great feel too! Was in country for the London Jazz Festival and staying with fam nearby. While there I saw a sign this pub does Sunday live jazz regularly! Wow! I gotta Wonder what that’s like? Wish I could hang about and find out…. bottom line highly recommended in Nov. 2025!
We use to visit the Cock years ago but haven't been there for a while. It was great to see it was under new management. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. We were part of a walking group and we were able to park and order our lunch before our walk. We then returned for a very pleasant and reasonably priced lunch.
Monday lunch for our small walking group. A lovely welcome from managers Alice and Zoe, and a nice comfortable atmosphere with open fire. The Cock Inn is now under new management and working hard to revive this lovely old pub. Monday/Tuesday lunch menu is not extensive, but excellent quality and “just right” in portion size. Great work all! Keep it up!
We ( 3 of us ) had lunch there yesterday and it was very nice. We had meals from the lunchtime menu as we didn't want a larger diner meal. The 3 meals we had were calves liver, fish and chips & white bait. They were perfect, very tasty, lots of flavour and perfect. I had the sticky toffee pudding for desert and one of had the ice cream. All just the right portions. The choices of beers, wines and spirits were good. A lovely atmosphere with a nice Log fire burning away at one side. So we have another local pub/restaurant to add to our local list. We will definitely be back again and I think it may be best to book in advance in case its busy to be sure of getting a table even though there was room on our visit but I would imagine it would be busy in the evening or for a Sunday lunch. Oh yes i forgot to add, the staff were very attentive, helpful with the menu and getting the perfect table. ☆☆☆☆☆

Brilliant! Lovely lunch outside in the gorgeous beer garden. The pint of Badger was a delight and the food was fantastic. Really varied menu. Also a play area for kids so we'll be back as a family. Service was friendly and fast. Nothing negative to say at all.
Cute little pub in the middle of various hike of the area. Food is nice and having a cold drink in summer in those surroundings is quite the experience. Veggie cauliflowers wings are really good, unfortunately the veggie burger is quite average. Staff is lovely. Tables could be more levelled and/or have less gaps as we easily dropped our food in between the slats.
