We have eaten a r Sunday roast in many of Twickenham's pubs over the last few months and this is stand out as the winner. We had the pork, which is the best, but the veggie and beef are good too (not tried the chicken yet!). It gets busy and rightly so. Yum!
The vegetarian roast, a mushroom wellington, was 5 star. Very tasty wellington, perfectly seasoned and served with a Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, mash, green beers and carrots. The gravy was first rate too. The burger, chicken and pie were also good but the veggie option was outstanding, loved it. A perfect warming lunch after watching Harlequin Women.
1st time and it was a lovely pub near the Rugby (and I could park my motorcycle in the street). The young staff were welcoming, even when I asked if I could have 3 pints of Naked Ladies, if I wasn't being wound up by my buddies who drink there regularly for rugby. BTW they have Erdinger in bottles, including alcohol free so I could enjoy a beer.
The sous vide beef was very good with well cooked vegetables and friendly service. Also enjoyed the Merlot wine. Just a little disappointed that when my wife asked for some more gravy for her veggie roast dinner, we were charged additionally for it. This felt a little churlish TBH as there was barely any gravy on her food in the first place and the extra gravy that was supplied was just a tiny pot of what appeared to be instant gravy granules. The veggie wellington portion was also a bit on the small side. One more thing, the food could have done with being warmer but wasn’t worth kicking up a fuss over.
First time here. Lovely venue, great service from both people we met. Sunday roasts were top notch, highly recommended. Good price too. Only quibble is that the vegan Wellington offering was significantly smaller than the chicken (see photos). I guess that probably reflects food prices. But would've preferred to pay a £ or two more and been full up! Still, otherwise great, so five stars.
We had sunday roast 3 chicken and 2 beef. Very tender well presented. I'd have given 5 stars except the dessert menu wasn't great only ice creams, chocolate brownie something or other, no apple/rhubarb tart and hot custard, in effect no English type desserts that would go with the roast dinner option. Otherwise very satisfied. Great friendly staff.
Another lovely evening at The Albany. Sitting outside to enjoy late summer al fresco dining while we still can as the evenings start to draw in. Fabulous and friendly service as always. Great cocktails and a Bang Bang Chicken burger, followed by a brownie and ice cream. Sheer bliss!
