We came down here tonight, and had the tasting menu from the new chef, it was absolutely superb , second to none, hospitality from Joanna and her crew was out of this world. Do yourself a favour and get yourself down here this is the “Best pub food not only in Borehamwood, but in the whole area, if not, the world” The whole vibe of the place has changed since Joanna and her team have taken over this lovely old pub.

I recently visited The Wellington in Borehamwood, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Tucked just a couple of minutes' walk from Elstree & Borehamwood Station, it has a warm and welcoming vibe that makes you feel instantly at ease. It's not one of those flashy, modern gastropubs, but that’s part of its charm. The space is cozy and relaxed, featuring a mix of traditional pub décor with a slightly rustic touch. There’s also a lovely outdoor seating area, which is perfect when the weather is nice, especially for Sunday lunch or a casual evening drink. The food exceeded my expectations. I had the Sunday roast, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve had locally—tender roast beef, fluffy Yorkshire pudding, and flavor-packed gravy. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, unlike something preheated from a freezer. The menu offered a great range of classic pub dishes, along with a few nice surprises. My friend ordered the southern fried chicken burger, which came out perfectly crispy and juicy. The portion sizes were just right, and everything was well-seasoned. They also have a decent drinks menu. I enjoyed a cold pint and later tried one of their cocktails (the espresso martini was particularly good). Prices were fair; nothing felt overpriced. Service was genuinely great. The staff were friendly, attentive, and down-to-earth. Our server checked in on us just the right amount, and even as the place started to get busier, they managed everything without rushing us. It felt like they truly cared, which isn’t always the case in busier pubs. Everything was clean, including the toilets—which I believe is a good indicator of how a place is run. The tables were cleared quickly, and the overall space felt well-kept without being overly polished. If you're looking for a relaxed pub with great food and excellent service, The Wellington is definitely worth a visit. It’s not pretentious; it offers good vibes, delicious meals, and a cozy atmosphere. I would happily return—especially for the roast! Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Borehamwood, it’s a solid choice.

Fantastic experience at The Wellington. The food was absolutely amazing. The menu strikes the perfect balance between comfort and originality. Service was equally impressive: swift, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The ambience added to the overall experience—warm, relaxed, and inviting. A real gem of a place that I’ll definitely be returning to!

The worst customer service I’ve ever received tonight. After the app malfunctioning and saying my order hadn’t gone through, I went up to the bar to make the order again. I then received my order twice and was denied a refund but told to box up the second one by manager Carly. Really disappointed because there was a lovely member of staff there and the food was decent but such such poor customer service I was utterly shocked and forced to pay for something twice because of their fault. Will not be returning here.

Modern pub with a cozy atmosphere, good food and selection of drinks including gluten free beers. Was good to see security on the door and a nice clientele. Good for a relaxing drink or meal. Staff were well presented and very helpful

Our first meal in the UK. We had a fish sandwich with chips and a steak pie. The steak pie was hands down our favorite. Update - so we have hit all the pubs in Borehamwood The Wellington is by far the best option for beer and food selection.

Perfectly pleasant staff, nice big garden and reasonable prices. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is that I selected the booth as my table as I need a quiet table for my bad hearing and when I arrived no table was reserved. Update: response from venue said that the table I had booked had people sat next to it so they said they didn't reserve however, when I asked the server about the booths being occupied she said, 'oh yeah you can just sit anywhere.' No mention of another reserved table or what the person responding to this said so I feel like the response is a little unfair as this wasn't communicated to me at the time. I was only making a fair comment and not trying to be unkind. :(

I went to watch the Wales Vs Scotland Rugby match and there wasn't enough seating at the screen showing it. So I sat somewhere else and they kindly put the match on for me! Had a nice pint and a great plate of cod, chips and mushy peas. Very friendly and accommodating staff - highly recommended!
