I remembered this as being a not very good 'spoons so was pleasantly surprised. Superb Sunday roast (I had the lamb). Vegetables not overcooked like most places. I followed with the sticky toffee pudding which was gooey and delicious. Excellent food made better by delightful and cheery service. (Till receipt says her name was Connie). Will definitely be back.

The Whisperer ★★★★★
A lovely little pub. Staff were lovely: cheerful, polite and helpful. The usual seating options but there were possibly a couple too many as it was a little difficult to move around - although it was clean and tidy. I don't know if it's a regular thing or not but they had an excellent Managers special of an 8oz sirloin or a mixed grill for £4.99 (see below) - hard to beat. The Guinness was excellent as was the Doom Bar

Yes it's a weatherspoons but that's why I went as you know what to expect. The table ordering was perfectly good and ensured I could continue my conversation without having to walk to the bar and stand around. There was a good menu for drinks and food. Decided that we would eat and was not disappointed with the food. Before you get on your high horse about it being spoons food, that's the point. I knew what I was ordering and it was perfectly good food for the situation. With several screens dotted around for sports fans it was fairly busy. There are some tucked away areas if you want less distractions. There is outside seating but not great for this time of year unless you want a smoke.

The chips could have been hotter and portion size bit bigger But very reasonable

Nice pub with full menu plus tons of drink specials. Great place to drink on a budget, but if you are a foodie - please go across the street to The Arch.

feeling a little adventurous we thought we'd try Borehamwood pub grub. One has to be very adventurous to try forum wood pub grub! It's pointless having hand sanitizers on entry if the tables are left dirty with crumbs and possible Covid. I'm not the type of teddy bear to look up crumbs from the table but I was almost tempted when, after 15 minutes waiting for table service and having been twice to the bar to ask, hunger overwhelmed me and my mummy. We got fed up and left. Although the bartender behind the bar was busy there was another pottering around straightening the stand-up drinks ads. Surely better to spend the time cleaning vacant tables and taking orders.

The Taster ★★★☆☆
Simple weatherspoons boozer selling a variety of beer and some surprisingly tasted food. Little patio garden at the front for a little alfresco dining or a smoke is more likely.
