Sasha our waitress was the best. Loved her energy. Great service. Very busy as it was Christmas but still great service. Food was great all round. Had a mixture of steak pie, burger and fish and chips. An amazing pub to visit. Shout out to the chefs Dana and Mihai. Food came out pipping hot and fresh. Defo worth a visit if you’re in the area.
The pub is super nice, the waiters friendly and the food very good. However I must say that the portions are very small for the price. We ordered aubergine lasagna which was delicious, but the size of a starter. We also ordered the fish and chips, and the size of the mushy peas was disgraceful, the ketchup sauce container was bigger.
Popped in here on the 10th September for coffee, and drinks after a meal in Cockfosters. Hadn't visited this pub since before the renovations which must be as long as 10 years ago. Prior to this l'd been visiting since the late 70s on a regular basis so had seen it undergo a couple of changes, the last one when it was the Cock and Dragon which had the lovely Thai restaurant at the back and very eclectic pub area. Hadn't heard good things about the most recent reincarnation, but hoped the reviews id heard were wrong. Sadly I was not impressed. None of the cozy corners of the old pub, no atmosphere of a traditional pub, very few people there when we arrived although it did start to get busier just before we left. The decor is more like a hotel restaurant and bar and lacks real personality. The toilets are good though and the place is very clean. My problem though was with the drinks we ordered. I don't think they have much call for coffee, as the cappuccino I ordered came with soured milk. I took it back and they made a fresh coffee without complaint. The gin and tonics that were ordered came with dried fruit, but on finishing the drinks the acrid smell off one of the slices was overwhelming. The other slice was ok. Again I complained about it to the bar staff and they said that it must have been the last of the old batch that they used and proceeded to demonstrate that they had opened another bag of these fruits. They showed me a bag that I noticed had a use by date of 12 September, and the inside of the bag in fairness had the same strong acrid smell. The young serving staff were very polite and dealt with all my complaints. However this is not somewhere I would choose to come back to, nor would the considerably younger members of our group, who found the whole set up rather staid and old fashioned.
This was my first visit to the Cock Inn and it did not disappoint in any way. The venue and atmosphere were spot on whereby the relaxed vibe made for a delightful dining experience. On my visit I was served by Millie who was polite, attentive and professional throughout; the food was well proportioned and scrumptious to say the least and all those involved made my visit a memorable one. I will definitely be returning for a meal again.
The service was friendly and polite. Our food was flaoursome and presentation was professional. Quality and quantity were value for money and location. Pugh was dog friendly and clean, modern and quirky. Onsite parking and garden area. Pub is a hidden treasure away from the main road opposite Trent Park entrance. Will definitely be visiting again.
Decent pub for a chill night out, large variety of tap beers and drinks. The pub was clean and very beautiful inside! Food was ok but could do better. The pizza and steak were dry. There was more batter then fish on the fish and chips. Even some chips were undercooked. The Mac and cheese felt microwaved. Customer service was ok, the waiter was getting impatient when taking first orders. Overall a nice for drinks but not for food…
So parking can be a nightmare here especially on beautiful sunny days as they have a large drinks garden. You walk in and everything looks clean and beautiful, lovely high chairs and normal tables and chairs also. Friendly staff and a large drinks selection. Food menu wasn't too bad and my colleague had some allergies so made sure they knew and was told we should eat the a different dish which came out perfectly. Ordered one of my favourite drinks but the ginger ale was warm and lucky they showed me 1st otherwise it would of been a waste of a drink and down to a 3 star. When the food came, they both smelt amazing and looked great. The sea food linguine was excellent and we had no complaints. But my dish (chicken & bacon brie) which looks so good but was a little disappointing, the crust was just too thick and didn't see any bacon inside and wasn't creamy inside. The mash was smooth and tasty and the long stem Brockley was done perfectly with a lovely bite.
Walked in mid-afternoon and got a table for 3 for Sunday lunch. Delicious fig and dolcelatte veggie roast, followed by apple crumble. Staff were also really attentive and friendly. Will definitely be returning
Went here years ago when there was a Thai restaurant and wasn't impressed. But now it's REALLY good! Highly recommend it. Great variety of menu items - high end rack of lamb down to burgers and pizzas - and all were very good for our party of 5.
