I have been to London four times in the last year and a half and every time I eat here, sometimes multiple times in one trip. This is my favorite local place to come when I visit London. On one trip I brought my parents, another I brought my parents and my two aunts and then on another trip, I brought two of my friends from Jax Fl to eat here. It’s got an amazing vibe, great music and amazing food. It’s easily become our go to place. I also had the opportunity to come here when Taylor Swift was in town for the eras tour ( which I went to at Wembley Stadium, and had the time of my life, literally planned this whole trip in London around that tour) and we all know she wrote a song about you know who going into the black dog so I got to see my favorite place boom with a bunch of my fellow Swifties to the point, it got so busy they had to hire security. It’s probably best to make reservations because it is so popular now but I will say every time I’ve come I’ve just been able to walk in and the manager is so amazing because they know that I’ve traveled from the states they always get me in. The food is amazing and reasonably priced. I’ve sat inside, I’ve sat on the patio and I’ve sat in the garden. It doesn’t matter where you sit the vibe is great and the service is amazing. I strongly recommend trying this place out. I even bought some of their apparel and I wear it all the time.

Stopped by The Black Dog because of Taylor Swift...and sure glad I did! Hands down the Best Service and Best Food I have had in London! Had the Sunday Roast and everything tasted delicious and was perfectly cooked and seasoned! Highly Recommend!

I’ve worked nearby for years and never visited. On a Tuesday lunchtime I found myself nearby and decided to try it out, I can only say that I wish I had done earlier. The atmosphere is lovely, the high ceilings and open layout feels welcoming and spacious, and the staff were all lovely and friendly and helpful. I decided to get some lunch and opted for the harissa roasted cauliflower and pomegranate salad. I was expecting something fairly mediocre as per usual pub food, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Not only was I not expecting a whole cauliflower but the presentation was beautiful, and most importantly it tasted absolutely incredible. Cauliflower doesn’t usually get me excited, but the mix of flavours was just pure genius. I’m a bit of a miser and begrudge spending £16 on lunch, but this was absolutely worth every penny. I literally wanted to be introduced to the chef to see what incredible person put this together. Oh and they have Henry Westons cider on draught which is always a bonus.

Food was above average for sure, elevated pub food without being pretentious. If skip the sticky toffee pudding next time, was a bit dry. Drinks were good and service was excellent. Only downside is we would have preferred an outside seat and never had the chance to move out there. Definitely a repeat place if you’re in the area.

Very cute pub situated just beyond the park in Vauxhall. We ordered the scotch egg bar snack, one beef roast and one pork belly roast. The service, while good intentioned, was fairly lacklustre and the food took upwards of 40 minutes to arrive. Dishes were well presented and while we particularly enjoyed the gravy and pork meat, the rest of the plate was fairly forgettable. I wanted more textured to the roasted potatoes and far more than simply boiled carrots. The green beans didn't feel like it belonged and the creamed spinach didn't feel incorporated. I wouldn't return for the Sunday Roast but would happy to sample something else.

The food was tasty and a good portion size too. At £19 for the poussin with green beans and parmentier potatoes, I felt it was a little over priced which is one of the reasons I didn’t give 5 stars. It’s a really nice pub with a relaxed atmosphere. Service was friendly but a little slow at times and didn’t check to see if we were ok/needed anything after serving our meal.

A delightful pub nestled in a quiet corner of Vauxhall, not far from "The Office", home to our intelligence services so always a chance that James Bond will pop in for a pint after work! The eponymous dog guards from above the door. Several cask ales on offer and a variety of kegs available. A fine place to stop off for a drink and something to eat!

A terrific place for a Sunday roast. Lots of windows so nice and bright during winter. The roasts are all generous serves and meat nice and pink which is not easy when turning out lots of meals. The staff were friendly and attentive when we went, and it was very busy. A great choice in beers. Very good for groups of all sizes and kid and dog friendly. Very impressed they do not charge for bringing a birthday cake. We celebrated a friends birthday and they served out the cake we bought as a surprise after we had eaten. They have a compact but charming beer garden out the back with lots of plants and heaters. Thank you for looking after us and our 17 month old son gives a big thumbs up too.
