We had a table for 12 people and have never received service like it. We pre-ordered as we were a large group, expecting this to make things easier. Unfortunately, one of the children’s meals was still incorrect. We accepted the turkey dinner instead of the chicken roast as our child was hungry, but were assured the trimmings were the same, when in fact the stuffing was missing. On arrival, we tried to order drinks but were told we couldn’t as someone was entering our pre-order. The server never returned, so we had to go to the bar ourselves. Later, a starter was accidentally dropped over a member of our party, staining both his jumper and coat, which will now need dry cleaning. Mistakes happen, but there was no genuine apology, no tissues offered, and not even a drink on the house. The child’s meal was then taken away without checking, despite being a full plate of food, meaning we had to request another. At the end of the meal we queried an item on the bill, a staff member snatched it out of my partner's hand in an unprofessional manner and said she would have to speak to the manager. We asked to speak to the manager directly instead. After a long wait, the duty manager arrived, offered a half-hearted apology, and claimed she had no authority to resolve the situation and that we was wrong about the incorrect billed item, even though it is clearly priced on the menu. She said she had spoken to the General Manager who didn’t believe the poor service warranted any apology or goodwill gesture. When we asked to speak to him she said he was out back and would get him. After a long wait, he approached with a defensive attitude starting the conversation with "what's the problem", spoke over my partner, rolled his eyes when asked to let her finish, and even told us he had to change out of his pyjamas and stop watching a film with his two boys to deal with us. Apparently tarnishing his Christmas, never mind our family Christmas meal being ruined. He implied nine adults were lying about the bill being snatched because the staff member was a “lovely person” and "he just couldn't see her doing it". He stated the service didn’t justify any money off the bill because meals were replaced and service charge wasn’t included, adding, “Why would I give money off when you’ve already said you won’t be returning?” Only after being reminded that good service should be standard, not conditional on tips, did he say he would “negotiate” with my partner. It should never have been a negotiation; it should have been a sincere apology. This was never about getting money off the bill, it was about accountability and a genuine apology for the experience and service not being as it should. We did ask for the dry cleaning bill to be covered, which we was told we would have to either return back another day with the dry cleaning bill or leave the coat there for them to clean, neither a suitable solution. All of these issues would have been minor if the attitude of the staff hadn’t been so appalling. It took 30 minutes and repeating ourselves three times to get any form of apology. Every staff member seemed defensive, as if trained to believe the customer is always wrong. To top it off, as we left, two staff members remarked, “They should have gone to McDonald’s.” The irony is your team could learn customer service skills from McDonald’s employees. This is such a shame because the food itself was lovely. Some of our party travelled a long distance to be here, and others are regulars who frequently drink and dine at the pub but unfortunately, that won’t be the case going forward.

Booking recommended! My mum and I have visited Crews Hill at Christmas time for the past 10 or so years and have always finished off the day's shopping at the garden centres by having a well deserved dinner at the Plough. Staff were friendly and the food was excellent. My burger (cheese and bacon) was cooked to perfection! Chips were fantastic too. I also had the side of onion nests which I can highly recommend. Will be back again next year!

First time eating here after visiting Crews Hill Nurseries. We had booked a table and I'm glad we did as it was a very busy Sunday afternoon. Staff were very friendly and service was good. Drinks and food came out quickly. Fiancé and I had the ultimate roast beef. Roast potatoes were lovely. Beef was ok. Vegetables were undercooked. Yorkshire puddings were very greasy and I wasn't keen on the cauliflower cheese. Daughter had Dino nuggets, potato waffles and peas. She didn't eat the waffles as they were also very greasy. Food is reasonably priced. Was an ok meal, just not anything to shout about, probably wouldn't return (sorry)

The pub was a nice atmosphere, the food was really nice. The staff were freindly but i feel they needed more staff as we had to wait a while.

Visited Sunday afternoon after visiting Crews Hill Nurseries. Quite and relaxed atmosphere but busy tables with Sunday roast offering being popular. Nicely decorated and well lit in many seating parts. Service was friendly but somewhat struggling with the load and need for attention. Food was out quickly. Nice plating but I wished for larger portions. Reasonably priced for north London. Worth revising on more relaxed day.

Really nice, warm atmosphere. Service was very good. Shame about the burger and sweet potato fries being over cooked but we were given 20% off our bill. Thanks. Ribs with chicken thighs were very small but tasty.

Worst dining experience ever in London! The ticketing system was broken in the restaurant that day and the staff advised us it will take longer time as usual. Ok we were fine as there are playground for kids outside. As times goes by, the table around us got food and only our table has nothing. We asked the staff and they told us the same thing so we wait a bit more. Until the other tables almost finished there meal we check with the staff and they said our order was missing!!!! The staff was kind to offer us free meal as compensation as we wait for almost 2 hours. The most disgusting part was the manager here. He said the staff has no rights to offer free meal but he can only offer 20% off. And when I told him we waited for 2 hours for food and he checked the system and talk back to me that it was not 2 hours yet!!!!! And he said this is the normal serving time!! How can this restaurant keep such a bad, careless to the customer and rude to the staff as a manager ! Shame on him! Overall this restaurant should be a nice one but the manager is really horrible. Worst ever seen.
