Poor automated call handling, followed by stupidly long hold times, then Indian call centres... haven't even managed to get through yet and already poor customer service!

Seven weeks of delays, repeated faults, and my car returned unsafe to drive My experience with Aviva after a non-fault accident on 27th October has been extremely poor. A van hit my legally parked car and drove off, and the problems began when Aviva sent my car to their approved repairer, OMC Ford in Oldham. OMC Ford took the car on 30th October and after weeks of chasing, returned it on 24th November with several faults: abnormal steering, parking sensor warnings, faulty indicator and incorrect tracking. It felt unsafe. They collected it again, later found more issues (including a transmission fault), and sent it to BMW Rochdale. The car finally came back on 16th December — 7 weeks after the accident. When I tried to drive it that evening, I discovered major electrical and lighting faults: the speedometer and much of the dashboard weren’t illuminated, and although the headlights worked, the rear lights did not. The car was not roadworthy when returned to me. This is extremely serious. Returning a vehicle in this condition appears inconsistent with the requirements of the Road Traffic Act 1988 regarding supplying a dangerous or unroadworthy vehicle. When I called Aviva urgently the next morning, I was told I couldn’t speak to anyone with authority, they refused to treat the matter as urgent, and they refused to provide another courtesy car. I am now without a vehicle, one week before Christmas, unable to attend medical appointments or essential commitments. Throughout this process I have had to chase constantly, repeat myself, and deal with slow, chaotic communication between Aviva, OMC Ford, and Vizion. After seven weeks, multiple faults, and serious safety issues, I am left with an unsafe car and no support. I strongly urge Aviva to escalate this to senior management and ensure repairs are carried out properly by a competent main dealer. Customers deserve far better.

Dreadful company, do not use! I cancelled my policy as i sold my car, i paid the cancellation fee, then the following month, they tried to take even more money from me without permission (which is stealing by definition). Stay away from Aviva !!!

Disappointed. They don’t care about loyal customers. I was with Aviva for my car insurance for two years. Initially, I was paying less than £2,000 annually for my 2005 VW Polo 1.2-litre. Upon receiving my renewal quote, I was surprised to find that the premium had increased by an additional £2,000 per year. As a loyal customer with a consistent payment history, I found this increase unreasonable and have decided to seek insurance coverage elsewhere. And I hope that no one else is stupid enough to deal with this company.

Rejected claims from private healthcare with no real justification, and non supportive for any explanation as to why. Basically states that they will only cover acute illness and disease... So you must be dying before they allow you to claim on private healthcare. What am I paying every month for if this is the attitude. Appalling service. Do not use!

Wasted time taking information only to provide no quote based on the vehicle and postcode... Should be aware prior to taking details as to whether or not underwriters are willing to insure vehicles in a particular postcode area or nor before wasting time taking details.
