Iโve visited this pub multiple times and it never disappoints. The ambiance is cozy, inviting, and perfect for both socializing and relaxing. Staff are friendly, professional and attentive without being intrusive. The drink selection is excellent featuring local beers, craft options, and well-crafted cocktails. Food is fresh, tasty and generously portioned with both traditional and modern pub dishes. Seating is comfortable and the space is clean and well maintained. Events like live music and trivia nights add fun and energy to the evenings. Overall, itโs a pub that combines quality, comfort and entertainment seamlessly.

The black lion is one of my local pubs. Always receive a warm welcome from the owners and the staff. Food and drink is always of a high standard and a competitive price. If youโre looking for a pub to go and have a nice drink or watch sports which it is particularly good for this is your pub. If in the area I would recommend the black lion, you will not be disappointed.

We have a little tradition every Fridayโmy husband and I come in for a drink (or two!) and dinner, and itโs always a highlight of the week. Iโve tried plenty of fish and chips around the UK, but honestly, I was never that impressedโuntil I came here. At The Black Lion, the chef is absolutely amazing. The fish is perfectly cooked, the batter crisp and light, the chips just right. This is where I finally discovered what real fish and chips in London should taste like. A wonderful spot with great food and atmosphereโhighly recommend!

Good pub about five minutes walk from Plaistow Underground Station. Two cask beers on handpump when I visited. Lots of outdoor seating in the beer garden to the rear some of it covered. Very quiet on the Wednesday afternoon that I called in. A few people watching horse racing on the televisions in the main bar. There is a smaller bar with a separate door at the rear.

Absolutely fantastic place. One of the last, if not THE last proper old East London pub. Run by a top Irish landlord and his family. Proper topnotch Guinness served here no less and at least one or two well-kept guest cask ales along with a massive range of whiskies (Scottish, Irish, Welsh, blended, and others) The food is amazing. (I've always gone for home made Steak and ale pie with either mash or chips and fresh veg with gravy.) It's really good value, and they serve large portions. Keeps you full all day for sure. All fresh and homemade, it seems and tastes like a lot of care has gone into making it to, and they are proud to serve you (the food and drinks). Always get a nice warm welcome, and the locals all seem friendly. However, this is a quiet, relaxed place most times I've been in, which is a welcome change. Although I imagine a fun and buzzing atmosphere for a big horse race or football match being shown. Bar snacks also served, of course, including Black Country pork scratchings. Will always return here when possible. Hidden gem. Long live the Black Lion.

Love the Place, love the Crew, love the beer. Just one thing: I was there last month and saw a bloke watching a football game in the telly - wearing a chelsea jersey!! That would never have happened in the old days. C'MON YOU IRONS!

A fabulous East End pub with good beer, decent food and friendly staff. My grandad went to boxing club and my parents' dated there so it's bound to be a personal favourite.

A great labyrinthine pub with faux beams all over the place. Lovely people having a drink and great staff taking care of everyone. Good beer including a couple of casks on offer. Plenty of space outside welcoming the good weather. There is a wonderful atmosphere in here, pop by for a pint.
