   I visited The Ship today at 1pm and ordered a roast dinner. It was one of the worst I’ve ever had – the meat and vegetables were dry, hard, and completely bland. When I raised this, the waitress flat-out refused to refund us and instead gave attitude. To top it off, she even pulled a face at me as I was leaving, which was incredibly unprofessional. A meal out should be enjoyable, but this was nothing but disappointing from start to finish. Poor food, rude service, and no care for customers. I won’t be returning, and I’d recommend others think twice before spending their money here.

   Please read my review before visiting as I hope this will help you enjoy your experience. This was our first visit to the ship after reading good reviews online. The main pub bar area and main dining area are very nice and cosy, with a lovely atmosphere. We booked a table for eight people. Unfortunately, we were not seated in the main dining area. There is a smaller dining area behind the bar which is where our table was. This area has no atmosphere and is right next to the door to the garden and smoking area and the kitchen. The day we visited was freezing cold outside and a gale was blowing through the old wooden door especially with people coming in and out, so it was a bit nippy. I mentioned this to the waitress and she was very, very helpful and arranged for an extra heater to be brought in. So a five star for atmosphere in the main pub, and for their service. However, I personally found the food very average and nothing special. I was hoping for more going by the reviews but I found the menu fairly basic and the quality and taste of the food very standard, not bad just very average. If you're going to visit the ship, I would definitely recommend booking a table in the main restaurant only and confirm that with your reservation.

   Cannot fault this place at all. Staff are always so welcoming and service and food are fab (especially the Sunday roasts!). We always bring our young dog with us and the staff are so accommodating!

   We had my grandads wake here last weekend and it was really nice. The staff were really friendly, the food was lovely and the pub itself had a lovely atmosphere. From booking to leaving, it was a very pleasant experience. We will be back for a drink in the future. Thank you to the Ship Inn for making a very sad day a little bit more enjoyable for our family.

   Food is absolutely excellent....had soup of the day, ham and cheese baguette with seriously nice fries and then jam sponge... delicious....really lovely olde world pub very cosy and comfortable...only downside....gets too packed Friday and Saturday nights.... otherwise..... excellent pub
