   Avanti Shirley. I went to the showroom on the 15th March. Time was getting on and I found out it was their late night. I had been to every kitchen showroom in Shirley and Solihull. By now I was a bit fed up. To cut a long story short I entered the showroom and a lady smiled and said hello. I told her straight away I was only looking and did not want any help, I think I was a bit blunt. After a few minutes she came up to me and said, while you are looking around would I like a drink? This took me by surprise and I must admit the thought of a cuppa sounded just what I needed. Time went on and I knew all about Avanti Kitchens and I was was very impressed with the products. When I am ready I will certainly come for a quote as I was not hassled and made to feel welcome. I don't know what was in the the tea but I came out feeling refreshed. Most companies as soon as you say only looking, they run a mile, not this one.

   Visited the showroom once from a recommendation and asked for Mickie. I have never looked back. I have received excellent customer service from everyone I have spoken to on the phone and an extremely personal service from Mickie who I can not recommend highly enough. The product is great quality and the finished product looks stunning. Thank you all but my biggest thanks goes to the fantastic work from Mickie.

   DROSS. THE WORST SHOWROOM EXPERIENCE... EVER. I visited Avanti with my son to enquire after kitchen cabinets for fitting into his narrowboat home, located at a permanent residential mooring in Islington. Although not a big order, we were seeking a local supplier, good advice and fittings of quality to accompany the installation of an Heritage Uno stove (which is an “Aga” style cooker / boiler / central heating unit made in Cornwall but built, because of it’s weight, from component parts by the company’s fitters in situ on the boat. A great company. Wonderful service), a compact butler sink, set off with granite work surfaces and a new solid French Oak strip plank floor. Not a cheap investment. We’d previously visited Porcelanosa nearby and, although their products were clearly unsuitable, the staff were helpful, gracious and advised us generously concerning suppliers of quality products online. We hoped to find such directly, hence the subsequent visit to Avanti, but our treatment there was astonishing. Upon entering, a scruffily dressed, bedraggled, woman appeared and, with far less grace and bearing than ‘Misses Overall’, asked pointedly and most impolitely, “Can I help you”, as if we were a pair of potential thieves. Beginning to advised her of our objective, she interjected to remark that she didn’t know if they supplied narrowboats and that she would have to ask the manager. Walking over to a man and woman, clearly senior staff sitting visibly at a showroom display with food in front of them, she conducted the briefest of conversations and shambled back to remark, “We don’t supply narrowboats. Our kitchens are strong and sturdy and would sink your boat”. We were dumbfounded. That was all she said. I remarked that the cooker we were fitting alone weighed considerably more than any number of kitchen units she might supply and that she had no knowledge of what our boat was like to make such a judgement. The two managers (if that’s what they were), the man and the woman, continued to sit languidly by their food staring dismissively at us but said nothing. That experience settled it. We left to find a solid wood kitchen (not cheaper MDF / chipboard / laminate carcass, Avanti style) supplier from Kent, online, who is joyfully creative, great to talk with and happy to supply the products they create to both house and narrowboat owners alike without discrimination. If that’s typical Avanti customer care, attitudes and professionalism, the very best of luck to any of you who use them. We found a far, far, better class of both product and supplier. You can easily do the same. They don’t deserve even one star.
