Marc Lamah has been my consultant at the Montefiore for the past 8 years after he had identified, through routine bowel screening, that I had bowel cancer. From the very beginning, until now he has been exceptional. He is extremely professional, highly knowledgeable, and genuinely cares. I can't praise him enough for all his help and support for which I am immensely grateful.

I attended my knee appointment with Dr. Chauhan, who unfortunately seemed somewhat disengaged. The consultation lasted around ten minutes, during which he advised that I needed a new MRI, despite my having undergone one for the same issue approximately eighteen months earlier. Had I been informed in advance that a new MRI would be required, I would have arranged it before the appointment. This would have allowed us to make full use of the consultation time and avoided the inconvenience and cost of two separate appointments. The appointment was scheduled for twenty minutes but concluded in half that time. I would therefore have expected Dr. Chauhan to review and explain the findings of my previous MRI at the very least. I contacted his secretary for further clarification but did not feel that my concerns were adequately addressed. When I pressed for more information, I was advised to book another appointment with Dr. Chauhan to discuss my complaint directly — again, at additional cost. This gave the impression of a cycle of avoidable, chargeable consultations, compounded by the fact that MRI scans were quoted at uncompetitive rates compared with other providers. Given this experience, I chose not to book another appointment and instead sought a second opinion elsewhere, where I found the service to be far more professional and attentive. So little effort appeared to be made to prevent a poor patient experience that I lost confidence in continuing with Spire. If this was the standard of care at the outset, I am concerned about how matters might be handled in the event of a more serious issue.

Prior to visiting The Montefiore I’d had a blocked nose non stop for the past 18 months, I’d been to the NHS who pretty much just threw nasal spray at me and said try that. (The nasal spray didn’t work plus one of my friends who’s a doctor said the nasal sprays aren’t that effective anyway as they help in the short term but do more harm than good over a long period of time) When I visited I saw Mr Watts who was very welcoming and chatty, he asked me a few questions and had a look at me to swiftly figure out the problem I’ve been having are nasal pulps. He then prescribed me some medication and arranged a blood test to see if I have any allergies (which I’d imagine would take a lot of persistence and time to get done through the NHS) Overall I’m very pleased/glad to finally know what’s going on and am hopeful to get this fixed. Thankyou Mr Watts and Montefiore

Speaking as an outpatient only doctors were good but admin stuff at the desk made me feel bad as it’s a bank or a supermarket attitude. Beautiful fashion ladies working with vulnerable people which are mostly poor after highly priced health appointments. Like robots. training needs for those businesses ladies how to show patience, empathy and understanding, speak slower and explain things with respect to patients.

I had my tonsils removed at The Montefiore Hospital last week. All of a sudden, I couldn’t drink water or swallow anything. I believed my throat was infected as there were signs of infection. I called the hospital multiple times and explained how much the pain had increased and I was scared. They basically said your just going to have to deal with it there’s nothing you can do, it’s a painful recovery all of this is normal. While picking my prescription up I asked the pharmacist to have a look and she also said it’s infected. Eventually it got so bad that I was admitted to royal sussex where I spent the night hooked up to multiple drips. I’m shocked that I wasn’t even given a follow up appointment after this surgery and I am also shocked at the way I was treated. No one was willing to even look at my throat to tell me if it was infected. On top of this, my consultant just before surgery, tried to talk me out of the procedure and made me feel so scared and anxious I was left in tears…for this and many other reasons I found him very unprofessional . A lovely nurse was kind enough to talk me down and reassure me I would be okay. All in all, a horrible experience and I feel really let down by the staff here almost as if they just don’t care.

I scheduled an appointment for an specialist. I was on my way to the hospital when someone canceled my appointment 30 minutes before. Without any explanation. I was told someone would contact me to reschedule the appointment. Instead of that, I received an sms with a link confirming a new date and time without checking if that was convenient for me. I tried to change the new appointment through the link. No reply or phone call. I called the hospital asking for help. I left my details. No replied to my message. Instead of that, I received a direct email from the specialist. My appointment would be conducted by another clinic. As the new agreement would potentially make me pay for that appointment instead of using my insurance, I called Montefiore and asked for a specialist in that subject. The same recommendation was made to me again. My issue was that I would like to organise something through the hospital, so I explained that. The person told me she cannot see my booking (obviously, it was with another clinic with I was trying to explain her). She told me that she could not help me because it was not her job to do that. All the conversation was performed using the speaker, so the communication was poor and full of misunderstandings, telling me to stop speaking and leaving her to talk without finishing my explanation. For that reason, I will be looking for another place / specialist. The topic we are discussing is health, and I think it is very sensitive. I can understand that a private hospital is also a business, but their clients are also patients and as I said, that is a sensitive subject to be treat in that way.

I just want to say a humongous Thank You to lovely Rosie in booking, the most excellent Dr. Chauhan & his wonderful team in Out-patients, and the astounding Dr. Stott for such compassionate guidance & care! And another huge Thank You to the amazing Imaging team in Diagnostics along with Dr David Yu in Radiology. From start to finish, and everything in between… I was treated with great care and excellence. I’d rather not need any treatment at all, but I am so grateful to have received such amazing care from the most exemplary care professionals any human could hope to access. Thank you Montefiore Hospital for your dedication towards excellence in every way possible. Much respect.
