Great hotel, family room was very generous and really well set up for the kiddies. Cleaner came during the day and laid out some extra biscuits for our daughter

We arrived Boxing day 1pm for an overnight stay booked in for Christmas dinner that evening. We enjoyed drinks around the open fire for the afternoon. We checked in at 3pm, and we’re looking forward to the Christmas dinner at 5pm. . Disappointed isn’t the word, it felt like the dinner was a microwave meal from Iceland. It was a 3 course meal, we all chose the turkey. Β£36.50 each we paid. Typically British we didn’t complain until the end of the meal for fear of the Chef getting the local stray cat to lick the dinners. Huge let down honestly, we didn’t book for breakfast for fear of be let down again. Would not recommend.

Stayed there during a storm warning so some of the comments need to take that in mind. The property is quite charming and above the Castle Pub which is where you'll find the check in desk and staff working the bar, and the restaurant as well. The room was spacious although a little cold when we arrived, but the radiator was easily turned on and there was a spare oil heater as well - after our evening meal the room was nicely warm. This next bit almost comes into the what did you expect a hotel set in a valley amongst the high hills of the Peak District in a storm with a Met Office Storm warning to be like. There was little insulation against the noise from the storm, the front facing windows were firm but even as we tried to sleep this was the noisiest storm not just with howling winds but deep roars for extra measure. In other words if you are used to a quiet sleep and you find yourself here in a storm - you might bring earplugs. The hotel is slightly more expensive than you might expect but all other hotels are in the same price bracket, but the small town itself is beautiful and a great base for exploring.

Comfortable room and clean. Breakfast service very slow and no gluten free option. Disappointed that 2 vans parked up below our room in the carpark at just after 7am and began working on the drains. We felt it was an unreasonable time to begin work

We stayed at The Castle for my partner’s birthday weekend while visiting Speedwell Cavern, and it was great from start to finish. After booking, I enquired about their birthday packages, and they were quick to respond, confirming they offer them at no extra cost. When we arrived, the room was decorated with balloons, a banner, and a birthday card. It was such a nice touch. Our room also had a lovely view of the castle, which was an added bonus. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Sophie and Molly were especially polite and accommodating, always making sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, and everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back.

Friendly, clean and great! The hotel was fab, we’ve stayed before. Very very busy when we checked in but there’s a separate check in desk and we were greeting happily and swiftly. Our room was down stairs on the Main Street in the main pub building, super clean and great size room. Compliments on the number of plugs which can drive me crazy in rooms so I was happy to see more plugs than one could possibly ever need. We didn’t eat at the castle on this occasion choosing to take in a later breakfast and just relax. But the food looked nice. Check out was smooth and friendly again. Lovely stay. Thank you Parking, as with Castleton in general is the only potential issue. We parked in the peak cavern car park at 9.30 am after driving around for 20 minutes. If we’d arrived at normal check in time parking would have been impossible. Still unable to park at 6pm at the hotel we moved to the main car park which now had a couple of spaces as you cannot park in the cavern one overnight. Luckily, as with many we’d planned in a walking route.

The room was a lovely large room, the bed was so comfortable and the bathroom was bright and modern. We had a fantastic nights sleep. Parking was great. Maybe breakfast included in the price would have been nice.

It is a lovely spot and a nice hotel. For the price we thought the room was OK, but a bit pricey, particularly since we were on the roadside, so it was VERY noisy throughout the night really, both from outside and inside. The bathroom extractor stayed on for absolutely ages, the heater was set/designed to simply flow the heat behind the window curtains...the coffee was horrible cheap stuff - a cafetiere and some decent coffee would be much better.

Our total experience was perfect. We arrived early and had a coffee in the bar. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms were amazing. Very clean and spacious. Great shower above the bath. The evening meal had lots of choice and very tasty. Breakfast the same. Lots of veggie options too. Enjoyed the late check out. Thought the price was very affordable. Would highly recommend. Best regards. Dee Waterworth

The room was really nice. Like with most hotels, space for clothes and other bits, was a bit lacking. The room was very warm. The bathroom was a bit small in the toilet area and I knocked the loo roll off it's holder more than once and elbowed the sink. There was plenty of space for toiletries though and the complementary handwash and shower gel/shampoo was nice. Everything was clean, the cleaner was friendly and had a sense of humour and left a biscuit for my daughter's toy panda which we all laughed at and appreciated. The decor was nice. The breakfast was really nice and the breakfast staff were all friendly.
