I want to express my deepest gratitude to the incredible team on Ward 26 at York Hospital. I came in feeling scared, vulnerable, and unsure of what to expect, but every single person on the ward made me feel safe and cared for in a way I’ll never forget. The nurses, doctors, and support staff didn’t just look after my health β€” they looked after me as a person. Their kindness, gentle reassurance, and patience brought me comfort during moments when I felt at my lowest. Every smile, every check-in, every small act of compassion made a huge difference to my stay. It’s hard to put into words how much their care meant to me. They gave me strength on days I didn’t feel strong, and hope when I needed it most. I’m truly grateful from the bottom of my heart. Thank you, Ward 26, for treating me with such dignity, warmth, and humanity. I will always remember what you did for me.

Amazing Staff and First-Class Treatment I can’t thank everyone at York Hospital enough. Anyone who has suffered with gallbladder problems will understand how severe and exhausting the pain can be, and the care I’ve received has made an incredibly difficult time so much easier. Every member of staff has been genuinely friendly, supportive and reassuring. I’ve already had my gallbladder removed and am now waiting for my next procedure to deal with the trapped stones, and throughout it all I’ve felt truly looked after. Thank you to the whole team for your hard work, compassion and professionalism. You’re all amazing. X

When I first arrived at pediatrics with my younger brother, we was welcome with kindness and compassion by the nurses and doctors. Very quickly a room was allocated to us by the team. All doctors and nurses were very nice to give us what my brother needed. Thank you pediatrics department ward 18. You guys are amazing and provided the best service during a difficult time for my younger brother.

On August 7, 2025, I tripped and fell out of Clifford’s Tower and shattered my wrist. I ended up at York hospital, and I had the privilege of meeting Jo, a nurse practitioner in A&E. I received incredible care, and I was in and out within 4-1/2 hours (unheard of in Toronto, Canada). Thankfully there happened to be an orthopaedic surgeon to help set my wrist. (I’m grateful for the green whistle!) I was travelling with my family, and because of the amazing care I received, we were able to continue our vacation in England. I have since returned to Canada, and I did not need any further intervention, other than a new cast. I am now working on mobility and strengthening. I would like to thank Jo and all of the other staff at York hospital. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, reassuring, and kind. I could not have asked for better care. Jo, I hope you get to see this message!

I just a had an operation on my nose yesterday. I was admitted quickly that morning 07.30. Was not kept waiting. Staff were freindly and appeared to be working diligently. Went about their buisness.Saw some very professional bedside manor. Admittance was straightforward. I was out by 13.00. This is a fantastic standard of care. If I receive bad care I says so. So it is fair also to sing it from the roof tops when they have done a great job. Hope this improves my situation. Maximum praise to the man who operated on me. Said he had worked their for 40+ years. A credit to society and the world. Thank you very kindly NHS.

From entering a and e to my husband being transferred to ward 21 and eventually an operation and transferring to CCU every member of staff gave their very best. The treatment he received was second to none. They deserve every penny and more. We'll be forever grateful to them all.

Today I went for a blood test. I sat in the wrong are and didn't hear my number being called out. Later I realised, the staff at blood section were extremely understanding and helpful. Very polite and comforting experience from the gentlemen that took my blood and his colleagues in the ward.

Long post Alert!! Maternity Department: A shout out to pregnancy and labour/delivery team for their work!! At 1st I never knew there was an early preg unit which comes in action when there is a situation. Throughout the pregnancy I was monitored continously ex: doing US as early as 6 weeks to finding a HB at 8 weeks , detecting GD as early as 13 weeks and regularly following up with nick and alex, to always keeping a track for my bp before it turns to pre-eclampsia/GIH, thankfully my GIH was found at 37weeks. As soon as it was detected they admitted me in hospital to start with correct dose!! Also they always checked for pre-eclam thankfully I was free from it! Doctors and nurses from antenatal team!! Thanks! Labour and delivery team : As a regular visitor of triage and then labour team I am grateful to you. Midwifes and doctors you all are the unsung heroes. I could get up within few hours post a complicated Csec is all because of you all and then get discharged the next day post surgery is all your efforts(Jess ❀️ being one of them)! Even when no1 is allowed post visiting hours the midwifes were there in every ring to help me with baby to taking care of my baby to help me sleep for few hours! Post reaching home, I was started with next set of midwifes who monitored me and my baby till the time everything was ALL good to go… 25days I was under their care till completely discharged!! Whoever is planning or thinking whether to go to NHS or elsewhere, I would say it is the safest place you could be!! You would be heard and cared with a smile even when they work continously without the sign of tiredness. Thank you NHS❀️❀️

Amazing staff on the Labour Ward and the Postnatal Ward. Amazing care, dedication and warmth from all midwives, health workers, surgery staff, anaesthetists etc. Can only thank them from the bottom of my heart for the care they provided my husband and I and our newborn son.

Really really poor service, I'm aware of staffing problems but my wife has a serious brain condition plus blood pressure problem's. We attended A&E , she has been left nill by mouth for over 9 hours. Scans missed due to lack of staff . Left without anything to keep her fluids up . Left with barley any communication unless we chased it ourselves. Yes it's free kind of , we obviously pay but ya know !
