Yesterday, I called Gills Autos & MOT Ltd to explain the issue with my car. I provided the registration number, mentioned that it’s an automatic DSG, and described the fault in the gear selector mechanism. The person on the phone told me to bring the car in and said he could check the part availability online, but he couldn’t give me a quote until he had seen the vehicle. A few minutes later, I called again to ask for an estimated price. After a 10-minute conversation, I was told once more that they couldn’t provide a quote without inspecting the car. I picked up my car from the main dealer and drove 45 minutes to their garage. As soon as one of the staff came out, he immediately said they do not repair gearbox issues on automatic cars. He spoke very rudely and asked, “What do you want me to do now?” instead of apologising or attempting to resolve the situation. His attitude was dismissive, and he showed no willingness to acknowledge the mistake made by his colleague, who had given me incorrect information over the phone without knowing what services they actually offer. Based on this experience, I would definitely not recommend this garage. If they’re not even clear on what work they do or don’t do, it’s hard to trust them with something as important as fixing a car.
