This hotel is simply brilliant. I have now stayed here FOUR times in my life. My only complaint is that it is in Birmingham. However, this is outweighed by the many fantastic fortunes associated with staying here. The service is extremely exciting, with reception members often unexpectedly dropping into my room at late hours of the night when all lights are turned off - a fun and lighthearted surprise! I heard them reorganising my possessions and felt one worker checking my pulse while I slept, which was very reassuring to know my safety is a priority. Another safety measure met here is ensuring all visitors are vaccinated - at approximately 10pm I received a surprise vaccination at the bar, however I do not know what illness it was protecting me from as I quickly fell asleep; however, staff still kindly escorted me to my room and helped me undress for bed. Overall a brilliant experience - I am highly satisfied with the care and support offered by staff. At this hotel, I feel truly loved.

Where to start?! This hotel must surely be breaching health & safety regulations. The place looks awful from the outside with an extremely dodgy car park at the back which isn't even sign posted, full of old broken beds and chairs. Right next to 2 fast food places so lots of cars parked out the front, difficult to park. The lobby wasn't too bad but very deceiving in relation to the hotel. We tried 3 different rooms and ended up leaving without paying. The building is massive, very difficult to locate the rooms and the signs to the rooms are just laminated pieces of paper, how professional! Each room got worse as we went on and the corridors were filled with water damage, missing light bulbs, manky carpets, graffiti and dodgy looking electrics. The rooms were dirty, with old battered furniture, you could feel the springs in the mattresses, the wallpaper was coming off the walls, the carpet didn't fit the rooms, carpet gripper spikes visible, and some of the windows didn't shut properly. I could go on.... Do NOT stay here. Not even worth the cheap deal. You'd have to pay me to stay here.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Strong smell of weed as you enter the lobby. Prostitutes walking up and down the stairs with their next victim. My sons room had a bed that was full of mouldy sheets. My first room was not cleaned (empty pizza boxes and bottles of wine) finally got another room which was a dark dingy dungeon type room. There were 2 x buckets of dirty used fryer oil outside the door which stank the place out. The carpets weren’t fitted properly leaving sharp nails sticking out. Wallpaper hanging off the walls. Refused to stay (obviously). Couldn’t get a refund as they had already processed it (lies but couldn’t be bothered with them anymore). Phoned to complain about 30 times but a manager is never working. Have emailed their head office 10 times including sending videos and pictures of the dire mess of a hotel but no response. Apparently their head office don’t have a phone number either. Chance of a refund are zero with this company Absolute joke of a hotel. Stay there at your own risk to your health

It is in desperate need of upgrading. And when I booked it I asked if the rooms were wheelchair accessible and was told yes. No its not. 3 flights of stairs to my room. Good job my daughter didn't have to come with me! I definitely wouldn't stay here again. Only good thing is staff were friendly.

I'd specified I needed disabled access when I booked but on arrival we found our room was on the second floor and there is no lift. We were offered another room on the first floor and given the key so we could have a look before deciding. As it was getting late and we had plans for the evening we could really do without the hassle of trying to find another place to stay, so we went to have a look. There were 2 bedrooms, lounge and bathroom. The whole place could look very nice with some work and a lot of TLC, but it is very run down, wallpaper hanging off the ceiling, glass broken in the window, only 2 of the lights worked. Very basic, old fashioned (but not in a good way), just very shabby and in need of a good clean. We went back to reception and explained that my disabled son would not be able to get up the stairs. To be fair the guy was very reasonable and tried to get us a room at another hotel nearby but he couldn't contact them. He said I would have to cancel the booking or I would be charged and seemed to be very understanding of our situation by waiving the cancellation fee. When we left a couple who arrived at the same time as us came down to reception and explained they were not going to stay as the room was too dirty. The guy also advised them to make sure they cancelled their booking to avoid being charged. He didn't seem phased by it at all and offered no apology. Although I completely agree with this couple, I have always thought if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all. For that reason I've tried to be as fair as I can to the hotel but I have to say I've never seen anything like this. It's such a shame because it could (and maybe one did) look very rich and elegant. Currently it's not somewhere I would ever consider staying and wouldn't be able to recommend it.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Wallpaper has been ripped from some of the walls, and no attempt has been made to redecorate. While i stayed there someone went through my luggage. I always leave things in a certain way. A piece of jewelry went missing. The hotel staff were not very friendly. I asked about a place to go for food and was told the take away only opened in the evenings. Then on leaving the building discovered that there was a McDonald's within easy view of the hotel. I needed an extension lead for medical equipment, which they could not supply because the electrical sockets were the other side of the room. The first night there was an argument between several men and a woman. I feel this place is used as an under cover brothel. The toilet did not flush and was not attended to. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that wishes to have a relaxing night, as some of the bed springs could be felt. I ended up sleeping on the floor as it was far more comfortable. The atmosphere would have been good as it is a Victorian place, but the management who have taken this place over, have let it go to the pits.
