Even though we aren't local, we decided to call in on our journey back home. The store is closing down so they're offering "everything must go" discounts on pretty much everything. Around half of the shelves were empty today, but there's still plenty left and decent bargains to buy.
Don't fall for the spend a fiver and everything is 50%off. They've doubled the prices. Full of rubbish, don't bother.
Lots of bargains here. Lots of stuff that you may need at a good price. Plenty of Halloween accessories. Free parking outside door for up to 3 hours. Brand new Aldi next door and same carpark. PS Card machine having issues but worked eventually, not the first time card machine playing up here and had to pay in cash previously and card worked perfectly first time next door in Aldi. Purchased a lovely comfy pair of fur lined slippers for the winter months. I don't really like the one way system in the first part of the shop as generally I go to middle or far end of the shop and the extra walk around.
Great prices and a fantastic range of goods. Many things sold here can't be found locally anywhere else.

I love pound shops in general. This place is huge and packed with bargains and things you can't find at many big supermarkets. The staff when I visited couldn't be nicer or more helpful. Go here and fill your stockings for Christmas.
This poundstretcher is one of the bigger ones in the area. It's bang in the middle of Dewsbury Town opposite Mecca Bingo and next to Halfords and Sainsbury's, also close to Matalan and Ice Land. I went there last week and had a pleasant experience. The store was really tidy, and well presented. Everything was stocked very neatly and there are some great offers that catch your eye as you walk in! Over the years the variety of products have increased and changed in a positive manner and now poundstretcher reaches out to all races/cultures and caters from all needs. Everything from food to home decor to garden care to pet care and even car exterior and interior. All the staff were very cheerful and polite. The customer service was great aswell. Overall, a brilliant branch of Poundstretcher!
I was returning a pair of curtains which neither fit nor kept the light out despite being lined. I was informed that as I didn't have the packaging I couldn't either return them or exchange them and i did present my receipt. On the shelf I purchased them from were around 10 pairs of the same curtains with no packaging and I asked what would happen had I bought without packaging. I was told the curtains would be reduced at the till. After having tried this I found it not to be true. They are charged at full price. After a 5 minute discussion I asked for your Head Office number and the sales assistant decided this time she would refund the money. There was a large queue getting larger and I was embarrassed. As a rule I'm or have been a regular customer and I think on this occasion I spent well over £100. In future I'll think twice about items I purchase in respect of what would happen if I needed a refund. I had actually binned the packaging as soon as I'd opened the curtains and with high insight I should have checked. Unfortunately we'd decorated and the packaging was soiled. It was the manner and attitude of the assistant that should be in question. It was very abrupt, dismissive and bordering on rude. That is why the low rating. There were 2 assistants. It's sad as the 2nd assistant who had to deal with my huge amount of shopping and an ever growing queue (which she did ask several times for her colleague to man the other till as I filled at least 4 huge shoppers) couldn't have been more helpful. She waited till I packed a bag before continuing. Said not to lift the basket if it was too heavy. When I'd finished the shopping was too heavy to carry so she suggested I took some to my car and come back for the rest which I did. I have my receipts at home which will have the employee numbers on although you'll be aware of which is which by the curtain return. This experience has definitely had an effect on my outlook of Poundstretchers.
Not an expensive place to shop. Some of the food and drink is cheap compared to other stores but check the best before dates. Sometimes they are at a discounted price because they are coming to the end of the best before date
