I had a major stroke about 5 years ago, affecting my right side and my speech. I did neuro physiotherapy for about a year, at which point I decided I regained enough use of my right arm and leg, and I gave up. On my 5 year anniversary, I thought: I wonder if neurophysiotherapy would make a difference now? I produced a list of things I’d like to do e.g. cutting with scissors. In the early sessions, I was taught various exercises e.g. opening and closing my thumb and index finger. I thought: “What’s the point of this”. But I persevered. And I’m glad I did. By the 10th session I could use scissors and various other things on my list. And my wife says my walking and general posture have greatly improved. Liz is kind, considerate and very knowledgeable about strokes. She is always on time, trustworthy and reliable and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone with a neurological condition.

Liz is an amazing physiotherapist for anyone suffering from ME/CFS/LC or Fibromyalgia. She understands and has great knowledge about ME and other post viral conditions. Liz is very knowledgeable about the brain and nervous system. She is kind and gentle, although never touches you, and has helped me manage some of my ME symptoms as well as my residual difficulties remaining from my stroke. For example she asked me to doodle every day to get my arm working again; I can now write much better and much easier. Another area she helped me with was my legs, where I suffer with DVT, and my neck weakness and pain. In each of these cases she gave me gentle exercises to do at my own pace and when I was well enough. She understands about crashing and PEM and is mindful of never wanting a crash or worsening of symptoms. She never asks me to do “so many repetitions”. Liz is mobile and lives in Mytholmroyd and visits you in your own home, to a day and time that is convenient to you and your illness. I have given Liz’s contact details to my local ME group for anyone who might need support. Thank you Liz for all that you have helped me with, I am very grateful and very blessed to have found you. Best wishes, Elaine x

Liz has been kind enough to work with me after suffering a stroke in December 2022. I had an immediate Improvement through some of the exercises we started, and the improvements have continued through this last year. Liz always keeps positive with me, and offers great encouragement, even when I have my off weeks. She's helped me in obtaining much needed equipment working with my GP, which has been a huge boost to my ongoing recovery. I could go on and on, but in the main, I consider to have been so lucky to have found Liz, because I don't think I'd be anywhere near where I am today without her! I would recommend her to anyone, she's amazing

My wife suffered a massive stroke and lost all use of her right side, this left her unable to walk. Once the short period of NHS physio ended, I contacted ‘Liz Farrar Physiotherapy’. Liz was amazing, not just with the varied physio she did, but also her friendly, caring and supportive approach towards my wife, and also towards me, as her full time carer. She gave my wife the confidence to get through the sessions and within a few weeks she was able to move around the house with the aid of her stick, which I didn’t think possible in the early days! The way Liz connected with her was something I hadn’t seen from anyone else. She is amazing at what she does and goes above & beyond. I would not hesitate in recommending her to anyone who needs help.

Liz has helped me regain my confidence and helped with my general mobility since I found my mobility had deteriorated due to lockdown. She has given me useful exercises to do every day to keep me moving, helping me to maintain my fitness levels and improve my stability. Liz is extremely kind, considerate and very knowledgeable about MS which has really helped me to understand and manage my condition. She always answers any questions I have with regards to my MS and is very understanding. Liz is always on time, trustworthy and reliable and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone with a neurological condition.

Liz has helped me master the skills required to manage my pain. I was previously in constant pain but am now able to lead a normal life again. Thanks to Liz I know how to prevent pain returning and deal with any relapses. I would recommend Liz to anyone living with pain. All of our sessions were via Zoom calls which was easy and effective. Liz was easy to talk to and gave practical advice and information which was easy to understand. All sessions came with handouts which were emailed so I didn’t need to write anything down. Most importantly, Liz genuinely cares and it was such a relief to have someone to guide me with what I needed to do to overcome my pain.
